Lee Junho's Heartfelt Confession Lights Up Saturday Night in 'Typhoon Company'
The 11th episode of tvN's weekend drama 'Typhoon Company' (directed by Lee Na-jung & Kim Dong-hwi, written by Jang Hyun) aired on the 15th, achieving a nationwide household rating of 8.5%, peaking at 9.8%, and a metropolitan household rating of 8.7%, peaking at 9.8%, securing the top spot across all channels, including terrestrial networks, during its time slot.
The 2049 target audience rating also topped the charts with a nationwide household average of 2.4% and a peak of 2.7%, according to Nielsen Korea, based on cable, IPTV, and satellite combined paid platforms.
Kang Tae-pung (played by Lee Junho), in search of a stable and profitable business, turned his attention to government projects and discovered the 'Hope Grassland' initiative by the Public Procurement Service's International Cooperation Agency. This government-led project aimed to send aid materials to build schools and hospitals in Africa. However, major corporations had already secured the key items, leaving only surgical gloves, which had no domestic production facilities. The only person who could save Typhoon Company, lacking public project experience and capital for deposits, was former management director Goo Myung-kwan (played by Kim Song-il), the sole person with practical experience.
However, Goo Myung-kwan had taken a wrong turn. After leaving the company, things didn't go as planned, and he fell into a cult advocating the Y2K doomsday theory. Kang Tae-pung and Oh Mi-sun (played by Kim Min-ha) chased after Goo Myung-kwan, who was distributing flyers for a special prayer meeting on the street, but were instead called 'Satan' and driven away. To make matters worse, they received a notice from the Public Procurement Service disqualifying them from bidding, pushing them to the brink.
At that moment, Goo Myung-kwan stepped in to save Typhoon Company. Knowing the habits of public officials, he advised them to file an objection due to unclear participation restrictions and procedural issues like discrimination against small businesses. Thanks to this, Cha Ju-sa (played by Jung Soo-young) from the Public Procurement Service had no choice but to allow Typhoon Company to participate in the bid. However, at the Public Procurement Service, Kang Tae-pung encountered Pyo Hyun-jun (played by Moo Jin-sung) from Pyo Sang-sun. Pyo Hyun-jun, who wanted to bring down Kang Tae-pung, changed his company's item to the same surgical gloves, leading to a lowest-price open bidding competition between the two companies.
The process of preparing the bid documents was filled with tension, allowing no room for error. Despite obtaining a keyboard capable of typing in French for the submission of the surgical glove technical specifications, the printer software failed to recognize French, resulting in a disaster with all fonts appearing garbled.
After a whirlwind day, a turning point emerged in the relationship between Kang Tae-pung and Oh Mi-sun on their way home. Previously, Oh Mi-sun had drawn a clear line between work and personal matters, telling Kang Tae-pung, who was always considerate, "Let's only worry about each other for work." However, Kang Tae-pung realized he couldn't do that. He confessed sincerely, "I love you, Oh Mi-sun," adding, "This is my first time having a crush." The intersection of Oh Mi-sun's cautiousness about focusing on work and Kang Tae-pung's honesty about his feelings sparked excitement about whether their romance could become mutual, as hinted by the episode's subtitle, 'Tomorrow is (Mutual) Love.'
Meanwhile, the mystery surrounding the promissory note between Typhoon Company and Pyo Sang-sun unraveled further. Cha Sun-taek (played by Kim Jae-hwa) had no choice but to accept money from Pyo Bak-ho (played by Kim Sang-ho) due to her husband's struggling business and tore out the page from the 1989 cash ledger where Pyo Sang-sun borrowed money, unable to find the promissory note. Despite this, Pyo Bak-ho threatened her, even mentioning her son, and she became desperate to find the promissory note, subtly probing Kang Tae-pung. Kang Tae-pung also sensed something amiss when he discovered that the file folders were organized by date from the right, a habit of Sun-taek's. The tension of the calm before the storm intensified as the secret behind the promissory note remained hidden. Episode 12 of 'Typhoon Company' will air on Sunday, the 16th, at 9:10 PM on tvN.
