Lee Jae-wook Sets Final Condition for Choi Sung-eun in 'Last Summer'
The fourth episode of KBS 2TV's weekend mini-series 'Last Summer,' aired on the 9th, featured Baek Do-ha (played by Lee Jae-wook) and Song Ha-kyung (played by Choi Sung-eun) working to persuade local residents to support the remodeling project of Patan High School.
Ha-kyung initially tried to persuade the 'Pavengers,' a group of five village leaders, to oppose the school remodeling. However, Do-ha won them over with a special local liquor made from azalea flowers. Village leader Go (played by Kim Ki-chun) then proposed deciding the observatory's fate through a traditional game of yut, leading to a tense match between Do-ha, Ha-kyung, and the Pavengers under the supervision of the women's association president (played by Lee Soo-mi).
After a close contest, Do-ha and Ha-kyung emerged victorious. Seeing Ha-kyung's bright smile, Do-ha remarked, "You're finally back, the Song Ha-kyung I knew," bringing smiles to viewers. However, on their way back, Ha-kyung reverted to her usual cold demeanor. Unfazed, Do-ha confessed, "Seeing you reminds me of the time I liked you, and how I couldn't even tell you properly," continuing his straightforward approach.
Meanwhile, a troubled Ha-kyung met Soo-hyuk at a restaurant. Despite initial tension, they grew closer by sharing their feelings. Moving to Soo-hyuk's office, they continued their relaxed interaction with a game of bingo.
Towards the episode's end, Do-ha impressed Ha-kyung by renovating the peanut house. Touched by the restored walls and newly planted trees and flowers, Ha-kyung was moved to tears. They playfully bickered over Ha-kyung's mother's azalea liquor and engaged in water games reminiscent of their childhood. Ultimately, Ha-kyung accepted Do-ha's condition, understanding his feelings. The episode concluded with Do-ha's joy and a preview of their upcoming cohabitation, heightening anticipation for the next episode.
