Rookie Coach Kim Yeon-koung Criticizes Players, Introduces Release System
In the sixth episode of MBC's 'Rookie Coach Kim Yeon-koung,' aired on the 2nd, Kim's team, 'Pilseung Wonder Dogs,' faced off against the top industrial volleyball team, Suwon Special City Hall Volleyball Team.
Previously, 'Pilseung Wonder Dogs' secured a 3:0 victory against Gwangju Women's University Volleyball Team. However, during the match, the players showed a lack of focus with consecutive errors.
Observing this, Kim Yeon-koung was visibly frustrated, exclaiming, "What are you doing?" and was at a loss for words due to the players' mistakes. Although 'Wonder Dogs' ended with a shutout victory, Kim reflected, "It's not easy," and appeared deep in thought.
After the match, Kim met with the players and said, "While it's right to celebrate the 3:0 win, how did we plan to start the game?" Player Baek Chae-rim responded, "We agreed to start with focus."
Ultimately, Kim announced the introduction of a release system to the players. She stated, "I talked to the producer. Those who don't work hard and can't keep up will have to be released. It's not just about playing well; you need to manage your mentality. That's a professional mindset."
In an interview, Kim revealed, "To attract interest from companies, we need to show our best. I mentioned the release system to instill a sense of urgency."
