Veteran actress Sung Byung-sook, often referred to as the 'Nation's Mother,' recently shared her life story, which seems more dramatic than any drama, on MBN's 'Special World.'

In the recent broadcast, Sung Byung-sook candidly revealed her tumultuous life journey, including two divorces, her husband's business failure, and a staggering debt of 10 billion won (approximately $8.5 million). She confessed, "It felt like I was living in a drama, not the real world."

Sung recalled the hardships during the IMF crisis when her husband's company went bankrupt, leading to the seizure of their ancestral burial ground and the loss of their home. "I washed my face at the broadcasting station and lived in my car," she reminisced. She also openly shared the reason for her first divorce, stating, "I thought it was better for my daughter to grow up in a home where at least one parent was smiling, rather than in a house filled with daily fights."

After her second marriage ended in divorce due to another business failure, Sung faced mounting debts once again. "Debt collectors came to our house daily. We could have moved to a rented home, but I chose a monthly rental to send the remaining money for my daughter's education abroad," she said, her eyes welling up with tears.

Sung's daughter, Seo Song-hee, a 17-year veteran actress herself, also shared her struggles during her time studying abroad. "There was no one there, and I even went three days without eating. I didn't go because we were well-off," she revealed.

Sung's deep affection for her daughter, who has been through so much with her, was evident. "I want to create a family for her so she won't be alone like me," she expressed. "I hope to live long enough to see her have children and meet a good man to love."

Sung Byung-sook, a seasoned actress with a 47-year career, debuted as a voice actor in 1977 with TBC. She has since become known as the 'Nation's Mother' through her roles in dramas like 'Misaeng' and films such as 'Haeundae.'
