tvN's 'Typhoon Family': A Tale of Unexpected Housemates and Heartwarming Bonds

In the latest twist of tvN's weekend drama 'Typhoon Family' (directed by Lee Na-jung and Kim Dong-hwi, written by Jang Hyun), CEO Kang Tae-poong, played by Lee Jun-ho, finds himself becoming an unexpected housemate in Kim Min-ha's home.

In the previous episode, Kang Tae-poong faced another storm of challenges. On a Christmas day filled with the romantic hope of miracles amidst the harsh IMF crisis, he returned home with a cake and a music box, only to discover that his house had been auctioned off. This shocking news left him and his mother, Jung Jung-mi (played by Kim Ji-young), out in the cold, literally.

With their belongings seized, they could only take essential items for survival. Their only valuables were a wedding ring hidden in their mouths and a mink coat left at the dry cleaners. With nowhere else to go, they headed to the weathered 'Typhoon Family,' a place marked by his father's legacy. Despite the cold drafts, they warmed themselves with instant noodles and the sweet melody of the music box, finding solace in each other's company.

Ahead of the upcoming episode, a still cut has been released, showing the mother and son duo struggling up a hill with their belongings. Their next destination is none other than the home of Oh Mi-sun (played by Kim Min-ha), a supervisor at Typhoon Trading. Once residing in a cozy Apgujeong apartment filled with family memories, they now find themselves as unexpected guests in Mi-sun's home. Despite their circumstances, they choose resilience over despair, promising viewers a series of delightful episodes.

The pre-released video hints at the dynamics in Mi-sun's household. Once an ace accountant, now a confident supervisor, Mi-sun lives with her sister Oh Mi-ho (played by Kwon Han-sol), who dreams of becoming a flight attendant, their grandmother Yeom Boon-i (played by Kim Young-ok), who may have a fading memory but a heart full of love for her family, their youngest sibling Oh Beom (played by Kwon Eun-sung), who loves spinning tops and tazos, and their dog Mija, ranked third in the household hierarchy. With two unexpected guests, each family member reacts differently, setting the stage for intriguing interactions. The cohabitation of the Typhoon duo and the Oh family promises unexpected chaos and laughter, while also rekindling the warmth of that era.

The production team teased, "Today, the Typhoon duo moves into Mi-sun's home," adding, "The episodes that unfold as the former Apgujeong resident CEO becomes a guest in a supervisor's home will deliver laughter with a warm resonance." They continued, "Through stories of people who become warmth for each other amidst their wounds and realities, viewers will feel the affection of 1997 once again." Episode 5 of 'Typhoon Family' airs on Saturday at 9:10 PM on tvN.
