Anticipation Builds for 'Spirit Fingers!' Drama Adaptation: Creator Han Kyoung-chal Shares Insights
The creator of the original webtoon for the drama 'Spirit Fingers!,' Han Kyoung-chal, has shared his thoughts on the show's upcoming release.

The new drama 'Spirit Fingers!' (directed by Lee Cheol-ha, written by Jung Yoon-jung and Kwon Yi-ji, produced by Number Three Pictures, MI, and Kenaz) is based on the webtoon of the same name, which has garnered a global viewership of 1.3 billion. Ahead of its release, Han Kyoung-chal discussed the project, casting, and the messages he hopes to convey through a Q&A session.
Here is the Q&A session:

Q1. The drama 'Spirit Fingers!' is finally being released. How do you feel about it?

I've been waiting with a mix of anticipation and anxiety for a long time. As time passed, my eagerness grew. Many readers have asked when it would air, and I'm thrilled to finally present the finished product.

Q2. What similarities did you notice between the characters and the actors cast to play them?

When I saw actress Park Ji-hu in other works, I thought, "I hope she plays Woo-yeon someday," so I was very pleased when I heard about her casting. Actor Cho Jun-young, who plays Nam Gi-jung, looked like he stepped right out of the webtoon when I saw him on set with pink wings and Harley Quinn makeup. Actor Choi Bo-min, who plays Goo Sun-ho, has a warm and trustworthy aura and a charming voice. Actress Park You-na, who plays Nam Green, struck me as someone who can express both playfulness and seriousness.

Q3. What do you think readers will enjoy when comparing the webtoon and the drama?

Since some time has passed since the original was completed, I found myself recalling the story while watching the drama, and I think readers will enjoy revisiting scenes. There are also new characters exclusive to the drama, which should add a fresh element of fun.

Q4. How do you interpret the core theme of 'self-esteem' in the work?

I would define self-esteem as "the courage to look at and accept even your flawed self as you are." In the past, I envied confident people, but now I feel more at ease when I can acknowledge my imperfections.

Q5. What message do you hope resonates with viewers?

Everyone has their unique color. I hope viewers will find their own color as they follow Woo-yeon's growth journey.

Q6. What would you like to say to fans who have been waiting for the drama adaptation for a long time?

I want to express my gratitude to the readers who have been waiting for the drama adaptation since the serialization. I hope they enjoy watching it while recalling the emotions from back then. The production team has put a lot of effort into staying true to the original, so I hope viewers will trust and enjoy it.

Q7. Lastly, what are the key points to watch in 'Spirit Fingers!,' and what would you like to say to all the 'Woo-yeons' out there?

'Spirit Fingers!' is a story about people with different colors coming together in harmony and growing, with vibrant colors highlighting the youthful narrative. I hope viewers enjoy the delightful coming-of-age story amidst the colorful scenes, and I encourage all the 'Woo-yeons' in the world to have the confidence to say, 'I am amazing.'

The drama 'Spirit Fingers!' will premiere exclusively on TVING on October 29th (Wednesday) with the first four episodes, followed by two episodes released every Wednesday at 4 PM.
