Former Comedian Kim Joo-yeon Opens Up About Her Life as a Shaman
Kim Joo-yeon, who transitioned from being a comedian to a shaman, shares her candid feelings about her new life.

On the 21st, the 'One Mic' channel released a video titled "5 Years After Retiring from Showbiz, Now a Shaman... The Comedian Turned Restaurant Owner."

In the video, Kim Joo-yeon revealed, "Every time I perform a ritual, it hurts. It's genuinely terrifying to the point where I want to run away." She continued, "I was very skeptical at first and couldn't believe in receiving a spiritual calling. I even experienced partial paralysis, but since the spiritual initiation, I haven't been sick once," she shared calmly.

Having spent nearly 20 years in the entertainment industry, Kim is now focused on her life as a shaman. She recalled, "When I first appeared on TV, people around me didn't believe it. Even when I had partial paralysis, I was asked to 'prove it,' which was truly shocking," she confessed.

Kim also mentioned that she personally chose the location for her parents' restaurant. "It used to be a clam stew place, but I suggested turning it into a barbecue restaurant after assessing the site. Only now do they see me as a shaman. I'm satisfied just by making the most of this prime location. If something doesn't work, you have to make it work," she expressed her determination.

Kim Joo-yeon also shared her honest feelings about living as a shaman. "I spend so much time at the shrine or ritual sites that I hardly get to meet people. Still, I want to get married. Many shamans are married," she noted.

She also revealed her future goals as a shaman. Kim stated, "I want to be someone who listens to people who have nowhere else to share their stories, not just someone who reads fortunes. Comforting and consoling others is also part of my job," she explained.
