Kim Hong-eun Bids Farewell to 'Shear Madness' with Heartfelt Reflections

On October 12th, Kim successfully concluded the final performance of 'Shear Madness' after a seven-month run that began in March. Throughout this period, she captivated audiences with her dynamic portrayal on stage.
In the play, Kim took on the role of Jang Mi-sook, a lively and seductive hairdresser who becomes a suspect in a murder case occurring above her salon. Her enchanting expressions and gestures captivated the audience, and through her agency, Kim expressed her deep affection for 'Shear Madness'.
Exclusive Q&A with Kim Hong-eun
Q. How do you feel about successfully completing the 19th run of 'Shear Madness'?
A. Initially, six months felt like a long time, but looking back, it passed by so quickly. While I feel a bit sad and regretful that it's over, there's also a sense of relief.
Q. What does the play 'Shear Madness' mean to you as an actor?
A. It is a very meaningful and precious work for me because I had the opportunity to work with such great directors and actors. I learned a lot about acting and gained insights from Director Seo Sung-jong, for which I am always grateful.
Q. Is there a memorable episode from your time in the play?
A. The most memorable moment was when I felt that my portrayal of Jang Mi-sook resonated well with the audience. There was a day when I was satisfied with my performance, and a member of the audience approached me afterward, in tears, saying they were deeply moved. Knowing that the audience felt what I felt was fulfilling and motivated me to work even harder.
I always strive to express myself as Jang Mi-sook, but it can be frustrating when it doesn't go as planned. That's why the moments when my performance connects with the audience are so memorable.
Q. Is there a comment from fans or the audience that stands out to you?
A. I was pleased and it stuck with me when someone said that my ending monologue as Jang Mi-sook was refreshing and different from others they had seen. It felt rewarding to reach people with my unique interpretation of the character.
Q. How would you like the audience to remember your portrayal of Jang Mi-sook?
A. I hope that when people think of the character Jang Mi-sook from 'Shear Madness', they think of me first. I want to leave a strong impression on the audience.
Q. Do you have any words for the audience who supported you throughout the play?
A. Thank you for your love and interest in the 19th run of 'Shear Madness'. Your support made it possible for me to happily conclude the performances. I will work hard to return with another great project soon. Please look forward to my future endeavors.
