Guinness Record Holder Kim Jung-yeon Shares Emotional Tribute to Late Father

Kim Jung-yeon, known for her Guinness World Record, shed tears as she remembered her late father.

The October 9th episode of MBN's 'Special World' unveiled the extraordinary life story of singer Kim Jung-yeon, who has been affectionately dubbed the 'National Bus Guide' for her 16-year journey on rural buses across South Korea. The broadcast began with scenes from KBS1's '6 O'Clock My Hometown,' where Kim was seen kneeling to meet the eyes of elderly passengers and interacting with them as if they were neighbors, showcasing her genuine nature that cameras often miss.

During the show, Kim shyly admitted, "I'm the woman in the Guinness Book of Records," having set a new record for the shortest time and most rides on city and county buses in Korea. Despite this impressive feat, Kim continues to break her own records, expressing her ongoing passion for hometown buses.

Though she has become known as the 'National Daughter,' Kim admits there are moments on the bus that weigh heavily on her heart, particularly when she encounters elderly men who remind her of her late father. "Meeting seniors who are around my father's age makes my heart ache," she confessed.

Driven by these emotions, Kim actively participates in events for the elderly, such as concerts and festivals, where she engages with the audience by holding their hands and sharing in their emotions. Her heartfelt sincerity and exceptional vocal talent make her a top choice for senior events.

The episode also featured Kim preparing for a senior concert at Yujeom Temple in Yangpyeong County, Gyeonggi Province, inspired by her connection with Monk Susan, a mentor who has offered her heartfelt advice over the years. The temple holds a special place for Kim and her family, with the monk once advising her to have children despite her concerns about late motherhood.

Kim's husband, Kim Jong-won, a performance planner and chairman of the Korea Festival Culture Promotion Association, explained, "With Chuseok approaching, we prepared a singing concert for the elderly, combining music with a traditional feast." Utilizing his past experience as a restaurant owner, he personally prepared meals for the seniors, showcasing his unique support.

After successfully concluding the event, Kim expressed her commitment to her roles as both a mother and a daughter, stating, "I have many responsibilities, and I am dedicated to bringing comfort and joy to the elderly through my broadcasts and performances."
