Kim Go-eun Reflects on Her Role in Netflix's 'You and Everything Else'

On the 22, at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, Kim Go-eun discussed her role in the Netflix series 'You and Everything Else.' Released on the 12, the series portrays the intertwined lives of two best friends and rivals, Eun-jung and Sang-yeon (played by Park Ji-hyun), exploring their journey of admiration, jealousy, and love.

"In her 20s, Eun-jung needed to have a fresh, youthful look, so I gained some weight. In her 30s, as a professional, her gestures and speech were influenced by her surroundings, which I portrayed with depth. For Eun-jung in her 40s, I emphasized her aura and energy, as there wasn't much physical change from her late 30s," she added.
At the press conference on the 5, Kim Go-eun was moved to tears recalling the narrative of 'You and Everything Else,' indicating her deep immersion in the story. "The relationship between Eun-jung and Sang-yeon goes beyond mere friendship," she noted.
"They had a profound impact on each other, more than just friends. They are deeply connected as human beings, encompassing both friendship and love. Friendship is indeed a form of love," she laughed.

"It's natural to feel jealous and envious at times. But I try to think, 'I want to be like that person. I should learn from them,' and transform those feelings into admiration. This mindset shift gives me strength," she explained.
When asked about her chemistry with Park Ji-hyun, Kim Go-eun said, "We got along very well." She added, "In the series, Sang-yeon says she wants to live forever in the story, and filming this project felt like creating an eternal story with her, which made me happy."
"I supported Ji-hyun mentally, while she took care of the external aspects. She would casually give me necessary items or say, 'It might be cold,' and hand me a coat. When I was tired, she would give me a piece of chocolate. Acting together was truly enjoyable," she shared.

"When I first received the script, I thought, 'How did a project that reflects emotions I've actually felt come to me at this time?' I was grateful to use those emotions correctly during filming. I believe 'You and Everything Else' will always come to mind when I look back on my life," she concluded.
