Lim Young-woong Opens Up About Marriage Thoughts on 'Island Bachelor Hero'

Lim Young-woong, the star of 'Island Bachelor Hero,' candidly shared his thoughts on marriage.

On the October 2nd episode of SBS's variety show 'Island Bachelor Hero,' Lim Young-woong, along with his close friends Lee Yi-kyung, Lim Tae-hoon, and Gwedo, continued their 'unplanned island village life' adventure.

During the episode, Lim Young-woong tried fishing for the first time. He caught two rockfish with his first bite, impressing everyone with his 'one shot, two kills' success. He humorously remarked, "Now I feel like I could survive even if I were stranded," showcasing his newfound confidence.

At dinner, Lim Young-woong expressed his contentment with island life, saying, "I don't feel any hardship because it's so good." He then performed an impromptu live rendition of 'I'll Become a Wildflower' and 'Warmth,' earning applause.

After dinner, the four men engaged in a heartfelt conversation. Lee Yi-kyung, who has been thinking about marriage, asked Lim Young-woong if he had any thoughts on the matter. Lim Young-woong replied, "I do think about marriage, but maybe later."

He continued, "If I had stuck to my original plan, I would have thought 'I should get married by 35.' But now that I'm 35, I don't feel the urge to marry at all."

Married friend Lim Tae-hoon offered advice, saying, "There are many good things about marriage. It's the merging of two lives." Lee Yi-kyung expressed his urgency, saying, "Aren't you envious, Young-woong? I am. It makes me anxious." Lim Young-woong agreed, saying, "I am envious," to which Gwedo added, "Marriage happens when the time is right."

When Lim Young-woong started singing 'Why Does Love Run Away,' Lee Yi-kyung joined him for a duet. Lee Yi-kyung expressed his gratitude, and Lim Young-woong graciously responded, "Thank you for singing my song."

When asked to name their group, Lim Young-woong suggested "Island Riders," showcasing his knack for naming. He humorously added, "I've been writing lyrics lately, so these things come to me easily."

As their group chat opened, Lim Tae-hoon was the first to send a message, saying "I love you." Lim Young-woong admired the gesture, saying, "That's a really cool first message. People usually don't say things like 'I love you,' 'Thank you,' or 'I miss you' easily, especially men."

Reflecting on this, Lim Young-woong admitted, "I realize I don't say those things often either. My latest title track is about that very theme, 'Make the Moment Last Forever.' I've been thinking a lot about why I can't say those things even though I know I should."

Inspired by Lim Young-woong's words, the four friends exchanged "I love you"s. Gwedo quoted his favorite scientist, Carl Sagan, saying, "The only way to endure loneliness in this lonely universe is through love," further highlighting Lim Young-woong's sentiments. The friends promised to express their love more often, showcasing their warm friendship.
