Song Joong-ki and Chun Woo-hee Reignite First Love in Emotional Romance 'My Youth'

The new JTBC Friday series 'My Youth' is set to premiere on September 5th. On August 29th, the production team released a highlight video showcasing the fateful reunion of Sun Woo-hae (played by Song Joong-ki), Sung Jae-yeon (played by Chun Woo-hee), Mo Tae-rin (played by Lee Joo-myung), and Kim Seok-joo (played by Seo Ji-hoon).
' My Youth' tells the story of Sun Woo-hae, who starts a normal life later than others, and Sung Jae-yeon, who unexpectedly disrupts the peace of first love. The series explores the journey of rediscovering forgotten pieces of oneself through a reunion with a first love that once brought light to dark times. Directed by Lee Sang-yeob, known for his delicate emotional storytelling in 'Yumi's Cells' and 'Familiar Wife', and written by Park Si-hyun, who showcased her sensibility in 'Run On'.

Sun Woo-hae nonchalantly ignores calls from the broadcasting industry, while Sung Jae-yeon is tasked with finding him for Mo Tae-rin, heightening curiosity about their reunion. Sun Woo-hae's cautious inquiry to Sung Jae-yeon, "Can I pretend to know you?" adds intrigue. His poignant gaze as he asks, "Did you want to see me too?" to Sung Jae-yeon, who claims to be there for casting, adds to the excitement.
Reuniting with a first love instantly revives forgotten memories. Sun Woo-hae, claiming unfinished business, visits Sung Jae-yeon late at night, feeling as if he's traveled back in time. Sung Jae-yeon, who also hasn't forgotten their time together, reflects, "It would be a lie to say I never thought of you. There were times I replayed it like a worn-out tape." The phrase "Greetings from the past, which we sometimes miss" suggests a hopeful future for their rekindled romance.
The playful banter between Sun Woo-hae, Sung Jae-yeon, Mo Tae-rin, and Kim Seok-joo, reminiscent of their youthful first love, adds to the excitement. Sun Woo-hae, who once avoided recalling the past, now joins Sung Jae-yeon's 'nostalgia trip'. As Sung Jae-yeon cheekily refers to their high school connection before filming with Mo Tae-rin, Sun Woo-hae playfully suggests, "Should we say we're the classmates who kissed?" hinting at their growing closeness. However, Sun Woo-hae's shadowed past, having disappeared from the public eye after 13, resurfaces to haunt him. Sung Jae-yeon comforts him with a hug, and Sun Woo-hae's tender remark, "Thanks to you, it wasn't too dark," is touching. Mo Tae-rin's playful warning, "If you like me, you'll die," and Kim Seok-joo's affectionate gaze add to the charm. As Sun Woo-hae and Sung Jae-yeon, along with Mo Tae-rin and Kim Seok-joo, reunite as adults, viewers eagerly anticipate what they will mean to each other in this emotional romance.
JTBC's new Friday series 'My Youth' premieres on September 5th at 8:50 PM, airing two episodes back-to-back every Friday. In Korea, it will be available on Coupang Play, and in Japan, it can be viewed on Fuji TV's OTT platform FOD. Additionally, it will be accessible on Asia's largest regional OTT platform Viu in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, and on the global OTT platform Rakuten Viki in the Americas, Europe, Oceania, the Middle East, and India.
