Yang Se-jong Praises Lim Soo-jung's Performance in Disney+ Series 'Low Life'
Recently, at a cafe in Sogyeok-dong, Seoul, actor Yang Se-jong, who stars in the Disney+ original series 'Low Life', shared his thoughts.
'Low Life' is set in 1977 and tells the story of country bumpkins who gather to claim a treasure ship buried in the sea. It is based on the webtoon 'Fine'.
Yang Se-jong plays the role of Oh Hee-dong, a novice who becomes enamored with money. Hee-dong has been stealing since childhood under the influence of his uncle, Oh Gwan-seok. He follows his uncle to retrieve the treasure buried in the Shinan Sea, where he encounters Yang Jung-sook (played by Lim Soo-jung), the matriarch of Heungbaek Industries, and Sun-ja (played by Kim Min), a cafe employee, developing complex feelings.
Yang Se-jong, who acted alongside Lim Soo-jung, said, "I was amazed by Lim Soo-jung's performance. She expressed the waves of emotion so well. She was detailed and considerate. While the camera was being set up, she would tell me, 'Hee-dong, go take a rest.' She is an elegant and meticulous senior." When asked if he would like to work with her again, he replied, "It would be an honor. I wonder if I could meet her again within 10 years. I would love to act with her again."
Regarding the intimate scene between Hee-dong and Jung-sook, he commented, "The mood of that scene was great. The mood, music, and the way they looked at each other felt like a Hong Kong movie." He added, "Hee-dong was nervous, but his feelings for Jung-sook weren't love. Even if Hee-dong didn't love Jung-sook, he was sincere at that moment. His feelings weren't quite pity, but more of a sense of sympathy. He wanted to help, but he wasn't in a position to do so. It's not love or pity, but a feeling of sympathy."
When Jung-sook mentions being pregnant with Hee-dong's child, Hee-dong responds, "How can I believe it's my child?" Yang Se-jong added, "Hee-dong is a bad guy. How could he say such a thing when she says she's pregnant?"
