Kim Hee-sun's Passion for Her Daughter's Education Shines on 'Let's Eat Dinner Together'

On the October 19th episode of JTBC's 'Let's Eat Dinner Together,' Kim Hee-sun revealed her intense commitment to her daughter's education, earning her the nickname 'Daechi Mom.'
During the episode, renowned math instructor Jung Seung-jae joined Kim Hee-sun and Tak Jae-hoon as they attempted to have a meal in Daechi-dong, a neighborhood known as the hub of private education in Seoul. Tak Jae-hoon remarked, "Isn't Daechi-dong the mecca of private academies? I'd love to have a meal at a house with students preparing for exams." Kim Hee-sun surprised everyone by admitting, "I've been to Daechi-dong up to 16 times in a single day."
Kim Hee-sun explained, "As a parent with a child attending academies in Daechi-dong, I've experienced it firsthand. With so many academies here, it's impossible not to come." She added, "You really need to be good at navigating this area. Daechi-dong is half students, half parents, and there are many great places to eat."

Jung Seung-jae shared his insights on Daechi-dong, saying, "At 10 PM, the traffic here is intense because that's when the academies let out. It's quite a scene." He revealed a personal story, "My family moved here for my sister's education. I once scored 56 in math, but after attending a local academy, I never missed a perfect score again." He added, "I couldn't afford private tutoring, but there was an affordable academy I wanted to attend, and my family supported me."
Meanwhile, Kim Hee-sun married businessman Park Joo-young in 2007, and they have a daughter born in 2009, who is currently studying in Los Angeles, USA.
