Lee Sung-kyung Shines in 'The Nice Guy' Amidst Rising Tensions and Love Triangles

In 'The Nice Guy' (directed by Song Hae-sung and Park Hong-soo, written by Kim Woon-kyung and Kim Hyo-seok), Lee takes on the role of 'Kang Mi-young,' a character overcoming stage fright while pursuing her dream of becoming a singer. Her portrayal includes delicate emotional expressions, impressive piano skills, and vocal talent.
In the episode aired on the 1st, Mi-young is forced to sing in the VIP room of the jazz bar Nirvana by its owner, Kang Tae-hoon (played by Park Hoon). Despite Tae-hoon's blatant offer of money and economic temptation, Mi-young firmly rejects him, stating, “I am not someone who can be bought,” and leaves the room with her dignity intact.
Upon returning home in a somber mood, Mi-young finds Seok-cheol waiting for her under a streetlight. She embraces him, releasing her emotions. Learning about Seok-cheol's past, where he was expelled for retaliating against bullies who tormented her, Mi-young asks, “Why did you do it? Was it all because of me?” Seok-cheol responds, “You were hurt. Your heart was hurt. If anyone bothers you again, I’ll do the same.”

The couple continues their relationship, sharing everyday moments like any ordinary couple. Mi-young brings light into Seok-cheol's once-dark life, while Seok-cheol protects Mi-young like a shadow, healing each other's wounds and building a narrative of mutual salvation filled with tender excitement.
Towards the end of the episode, Tae-hoon visits Mi-young at her part-time job, offering financial support in exchange for her company. Mi-young firmly declines, saying, “I don’t want to buy my dreams with someone else’s money.” Tae-hoon warns her that if she continues to refuse, his anger will be directed at Seok-cheol. The episode ends with Seok-cheol arriving to pick up Mi-young, heightening the intrigue around the love triangle and Mi-young's impending decision.
JTBC's 'The Nice Guy' airs every Friday at 8:50 PM with two consecutive episodes.
