Professor Park Kyu-joo, an expert in colon health, shared insights on foods that can trigger colon cancer.

On the 16th episode of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block,' Professor Park, who has been battling colon cancer for 30 years, appeared as a guest.

During the show, Professor Park discussed the factors contributing to colon cancer, stating, "There are two main factors. The first is diet. It's important to produce an adequate amount of stool, but consuming processed instant foods prevents this."

He explained that processed instant foods hinder stool production because "stool needs to increase to stimulate bowel movements, but harmful substances in the colon prevent this, leading to the accumulation of carcinogens."

Professor Park mentioned, "The longer carcinogenic substances remain in the colon, the higher the risk of developing colon cancer."

To reduce the risk of colon cancer, he advised, "Consuming plenty of vegetables and fruits rich in dietary fiber increases stool volume and speeds up bowel transit time."

He also noted that conditions like hypertension and diabetes can increase the risk of colon cancer, and emphasized the importance of regular exercise for colon health.
