In the latest episode of tvN's Monday-Tuesday drama 'Gyunwoo and the Fairy', Baek Gyunwoo, portrayed by Choo Young-woo, begins to see ghosts despite the protective charm of Park Seong-ah, played by Jo Yi-hyun.

Episode 8 highlighted Park Seong-ah and Baek Gyunwoo's efforts to manage the malevolent spirit Bong-su, also played by Choo Young-woo. By exploiting Bong-su's trauma related to gunshots, Baek Gyunwoo secured a promise from the spirit not to harm anyone. Meanwhile, Park Seong-ah used a suppression technique to help Baek Gyunwoo participate in an archery competition. However, the episode ended on a tense note as Yeom-hwa, played by Choo Ja-hyun, provoked by Bong-su, used a fusion technique that opened Baek Gyunwoo's spiritual eyes, heightening the sense of crisis.

The sweet romance between Park Seong-ah and Baek Gyunwoo, followed by the cliffhanger ending, captivated viewers, with episode ratings reaching an average of 4.4% and a peak of 5.5% in the Seoul metropolitan area, and an average of 4.4% and a peak of 5.1% nationwide, according to Nielsen Korea.

Bong-su, the malevolent spirit, enjoyed residing in Baek Gyunwoo's body. When summoned by Yeom-hwa during the 'ghost hour', Bong-su defied expectations by choosing to remain in Baek Gyunwoo's body rather than becoming a host spirit. This unexpected defiance angered Yeom-hwa, who threatened Bong-su with destruction. However, Bong-su countered by reminding Yeom-hwa that failing to become a host spirit would force her to abandon her shamanic duties, causing her to reluctantly back down.

A new threat emerged when the blind shaman, played by Lee Young-ran, discovered Park Seong-ah and Baek Gyunwoo together, expressing her fury by reciting a spell to exorcise evil spirits. Bong-su, distressed by the shaman's actions, attempted to retaliate.

Baek Gyunwoo, shocked by Bong-su's actions, took decisive measures. After ensuring Park Seong-ah's safety, he used his phone to trigger gunshot sounds, exploiting Bong-su's trauma to secure a promise from the spirit not to harm anyone. Baek Gyunwoo also assured the blind shaman that he would manage Bong-su responsibly.

With the archery competition approaching, Park Seong-ah worried about Baek Gyunwoo's ability to compete without her protective charm. She discovered a suppression technique that allowed them to share their fortunes, effectively sealing Bong-su within Baek Gyunwoo's body for a day.

Despite their efforts, Yeom-hwa remained a dangerous variable. She used a fusion technique to transfer her negative energy to Baek Gyunwoo, causing him to develop spiritual hearing and sight. Even after a high-five with Park Seong-ah, the ghosts remained visible, and he could even see her fairy wings. Baek Gyunwoo's narration, "Seong-ah, I can see ghosts now," added to the tension, as his struggle against Bong-su deepened.

The friendship between Park Seong-ah, Baek Gyunwoo, and Pyo Ji-ho, played by Cha Kang-yoon, also faced changes. Unable to ignore the frequent physical contact between Park Seong-ah and Baek Gyunwoo due to Bong-su, Pyo Ji-ho confessed his feelings, revealing that he befriended Baek Gyunwoo to protect Park Seong-ah's first love.

Pyo Ji-ho's heartfelt confession, asking Park Seong-ah not to respond until they could properly compete, showed his considerate nature. As Park Seong-ah, Baek Gyunwoo, and Pyo Ji-ho temporarily set aside their romantic feelings, viewers are left wondering if they can save Baek Gyunwoo from Bong-su.

The next episode of 'Gyunwoo and the Fairy' airs on Monday, the 21st, at 8:50 PM on tvN.
