JTBC's 'Strongest Baseball' Returns with Legendary Commentary Team

JTBC's popular baseball variety show 'Strongest Baseball' is set to return this September with a new season, and they've officially announced the addition of veteran commentators Han Myung-jae and Jung Min-cheol, both renowned figures in the KBO league. Following the reveal of their legendary player lineup, the show has now unveiled its 'strongest commentary team.'

'강야구' is a sports variety program where retired professional baseball players form a team to take on new challenges in the sport. The upcoming season will feature a star-studded lineup including manager Lee Jong-beom and players Kim Tae-kyun, Yoon Suk-min, Na Ji-wan, Lee Dae-hyung, and Kwon Hyuk, all of whom have confirmed their participation. Now, the show has added familiar voices to the mix with its commentary team.

Han Myung-jae is one of Korea's most famous baseball commentators and a pioneer in the field, known for his ability to paint vivid pictures of the game with his voice alone. Over decades of broadcasting, he has delivered the excitement of baseball to fans, earning the nickname 'quote machine' for his memorable commentary.

Joining him is Jung Min-cheol, a legendary pitcher from the KBO league who has also served as a coach and general manager, bringing a wealth of on-field experience. His expert analysis, combined with his witty commentary, has earned him the trust of fans. Known as the 'Prince of Daejeon,' he is beloved by Hanwha Eagles fans for his insightful commentary that delves into the strategies of managers and the psychology of players.

Meanwhile, following the conclusion of 'Strongest Baseball' Season 3, JTBC announced a split with its production partner StudioC1, citing issues such as excessive production costs and refusal to submit supporting documents. Subsequently, StudioC1's PD Jang Si-won launched an independent YouTube channel, 'StudioC1,' and introduced a new baseball variety show, 'Blazing Baseball,' in May.

JTBC has filed a lawsuit against C1 for copyright and trademark infringement, claiming that 'Blazing Baseball' is too similar in concept and format to 'Strongest Baseball.' They have also reported copyright infringement to YouTube. In response, C1 has been exploring new ways to engage viewers, with SBS Plus broadcasting 'Blazing Baseball' games live. The legal battle between 'Strongest Baseball' and 'Blazing Baseball' continues.
