Jo Yu-ri Discusses Her Role in 'Squid Game' and Addresses Rumors About Her Earnings

Jo Yu-ri recently appeared on MBC's 'The Manager,' where she addressed rumors about her earnings.

On the 12th episode, the singer and actress, known for her role as the pregnant Jun-hee in Netflix's hit series 'Squid Game' Seasons 2 and 3, shared her experiences. The series' global success, topping charts in 93 countries, significantly boosted her social media following from 1.6 million to 7.61 million.

She noted the increase in international fans' comments, highlighting her growing global popularity.

Regarding rumors of her substantial earnings, Jo Yu-ri acknowledged the buzz but clarified, "There was an article claiming I earned 4.2 billion won, but that's far from the truth. It's much less."

When asked about her family's reaction, Jo Yu-ri shared, "My younger sibling finds it fascinating, wondering why I'm alongside Lee Byung-hun. It's like a clash of worlds for them," she said with a smile.

Jo Yu-ri explained her approach to filming 'Squid Game,' saying, "I mostly shot with a bare face, emphasizing dark circles and chapped lips."

Meanwhile, during a phone call with her mother, Jo Yu-ri's mom mentioned, "I'm still watching 'Squid Game.' Im Si-wan's acting is so good, it annoys me a bit." Jo Yu-ri humorously responded, "Isn't he too much?"

She praised Im Si-wan, noting his sweet nature off-screen, contrasting with his character. "He always took care of me. It was my first time in such a large-scale drama, and he encouraged me to act together," she shared.

When asked if she gives her parents an allowance, Jo Yu-ri replied, "We share a regular bank account, but my mom hardly uses it."
