Actor Byun Woo-seok has confirmed his role in the upcoming Netflix series 'Solo Leveling'. Previously, he gained explosive popularity through tvN's 'Escape with Seonjae' last year and is set to star in MBC's '21st Century Grand Prince', where he will portray a romantic storyline with IU, scheduled to air next year.

'Solo Leveling' follows the journey of Sung Jin-woo, the weakest 'E-rank Hunter', who awakens at the brink of death to become humanity's hope against monsters beyond the gates.

The series is based on a popular IP that has dominated both web novels and webtoons, surpassing 14.3 billion global views. It was also adapted into an anime, sweeping nine categories at the 2025 Crunchyroll Awards, including 'Anime of the Year', 'Best Action', and 'Best Character', marking a first for Korean animation.

The Netflix adaptation of 'Solo Leveling' promises to captivate audiences with its unique storyline, vibrant characters, and the overwhelming scale of dungeons and monsters. The series will showcase a heightened live-action fantasy with diverse dungeons and distinctive monsters brought to life by a global VFX team.

Fans are particularly excited about the protagonist, Sung Jin-woo. In a world where gates to other dimensions suddenly open, hunters must defeat dungeon monsters to prevent global catastrophe. Sung Jin-woo, initially an E-rank hunter ignored by his peers, awakens in a dire crisis and becomes the sole savior of humanity with his exceptional growth abilities.

Byun Woo-seok will portray the compelling character of Sung Jin-woo. The series is co-directed by Lee Hae-jun, known for films like 'Ashfall', 'Castaway on the Moon', and 'My Dictator', alongside Kim Byung-seo of 'Cold Eyes'. With their renowned storytelling and directorial skills, expectations for the series' quality are high. The production is a collaboration between Kakao Entertainment and Sanai Pictures, both experienced in live-action adaptations of webtoons and web novels, and strong in the action genre.
