Japanese Crew Member from 'Street Woman Fighter 3' Apologizes for Racism Controversy
Uwa, a member of the Japanese crew 'Ojo Gang' from Mnet's 'World of Street Woman Fighter' (also known as 'SWF3'), has issued an apology over a racism controversy.

On October 9, Uwa took to Instagram to express her regret, stating, "I want to apologize for mouthing along to a racially insensitive slur during a performance of Saweetie's 'Best Friend.' Although the words were not audibly spoken, my actions caused discomfort to many."

Uwa admitted, "I did not fully understand the weight and history behind the word, and I realize how disrespectful and harmful my actions were," emphasizing that her actions were not intentional.

She further explained, "Since the incident, I have taken time to educate myself more deeply about the meaning and history of the word, particularly its impact on the Black community. I am committed to continuing to learn and listen to avoid making such mistakes in the future."

The incident occurred during the October 8 broadcast of 'SWF3' when Uwa was seen mouthing the lyrics to 'Best Friend' while introducing global artist Saweetie. The song contains the N-word, a derogatory term for Black people.
