K-Pop Stars Chaeyeon and Xion Make Acting Debut in 'Fresh Romance'

The new drama 'Fresh Romance' is already turning heads with the acting debut of former IZ*ONE member Chaeyeon and the real-life twin idols Xion from ONEUS and Dongmyeong from ONEWE. The twin brothers' on-screen chemistry has captured the attention of fans.

On November 9, a press conference was held at the Shocking K-Pop Center in Sangam-dong, Seoul, featuring cast members Chaeyeon, Xion, Dongmyeong, Choi Da-eum, and director Hwang Kyung-sung. They shared their filming experiences and expressed excitement for the drama's release on OTT platforms on November 12.

Comedian Moon Kyubak, who hosted the event, asked director Hwang Kyung-sung to introduce the drama. Hwang described 'Fresh Romance' as a 'music healing rom-com' about aspiring singer-songwriter Han Jung-woo (played by Xion), who is betrayed by his best friend but finds warmth, dreams, and courage. He noted that Chaeyeon brings a lot of comedy to the show.

Chaeyeon described her character, Yoo Chae-rin, as 'tough and shy, yet a national goddess singer.' She added that the character is 'prickly and aloof but also has a tender and cheerful side, making her a multi-dimensional character.'

Xion, who plays Han Jung-woo, said, 'He's a character with many wounds who works at a chicken feet restaurant and meets Yoo Chae-rin by chance, reigniting his dreams of love and music.' He humorously recalled asking the director multiple times if he really had to ride a Viking ship for a scene, as he is not fond of scary rides.

Choi Da-eum, who plays entertainment reporter Do Ji-yeon, reflected on the filming, saying, 'I thought I could express myself well through this role with my voice and what I have. The director's trust made the filming fun and passionate.'

Dongmyeong, Xion's twin brother, joked about a scene where he had to hit Jung-woo, saying, 'Even though it's acting, it didn't feel good to hit him, but the month and a half of filming was a truly happy memory.'

Director Hwang Kyung-sung revealed that the drama features over 20 original soundtrack songs, increasing anticipation for the music. During the press conference, singer J-Cera performed the track 'Why did you leave me,' receiving applause.

The music healing rom-com drama 'Fresh Romance' will be available in its entirety as an 8-episode series on platforms such as Wave, TVING, Watcha, KT Genie TV, SK Btv, and Home Choice starting November 12.
