Squid Game Season 3: The Final Chapter Unveiled
On the 9th, a production presentation for Netflix's original series 'Squid Game 3' was held at the Seoul Dragon City Hotel in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, along with actors Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Wi Ha-jun, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-wook, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-shim, Cho Yu-ri, Chae Gook-hee, Lee David, and Noh Jae-won attended.
'Squid Game 3' follows Gi-hun, who returns to the game with his own motives, only to lose his closest friend. It also explores the fate of the Front Man, who hid his identity, and the survivors of the brutal game. Following Season 1 in September 2021 and Season 2 in December 2024, the final Season 3 is set to premiere.
'Squid Game' is known for its ironic transformation of innocent childhood games into deadly matches. Regarding the games in Season 3, Hwang mentioned a game involving crossing a high bridge and another where participants are chased by cars in a maze-like space. He hinted at elements of tag, hide-and-seek, and cops and robbers, along with new games.
Lee Byung-hun portrays the Front Man, who infiltrated the game as Young-il. He plans to dismantle Gi-hun's belief in humanity. Lee explained that Season 3 serves as the climax and conclusion of the story, focusing on the intense conflict between the Front Man and Gi-hun.
Cho Yu-ri portrays Jun-hee, who begins to open up to those offering help. Despite facing hardships, she is set to demonstrate strong mental resilience.
Kang Ha-neul plays Dae-ho, who experiences trauma from a failed rebellion and starts avoiding Gi-hun. He described Dae-ho's reactions as realistic and expressed confidence in his portrayal.
Park Sung-hoon plays Hyun-joo, who experiences setbacks during the rebellion. He described Hyun-joo as inherently righteous and altruistic, showcasing camaraderie with fellow participants.
Park Gyu-young plays No-eul, Pink Guard 11, known for her sharpshooting skills. She teased an intensified struggle for No-eul in Season 3.
Lee David plays Min-soo, who is deeply affected by the death of his only confidante, Sae-mi. He hinted at Min-soo's desperation and the conflicts arising from his relationship with Nam-kyu.
Chae Gook-hee plays a shaman character, predicting the success of Season 3 with humor.
Lee Byung-hun emphasized the show's exploration of humanity's absence and its universal themes that resonate globally.
Regarding the possibility of a Season 4, Director Hwang stated there are no plans for it. He mentioned the potential for spin-offs, driven by curiosity and the creative process.
'Squid Game 3' will be available on Netflix on the 27th.
