KBS 2TV's New Drama 'I Took the Male Lead's First Night' Unveils Intriguing Character Dynamics
The character dynamics of the new KBS 2TV drama 'I Took the Male Lead's First Night' have been revealed.

Directed by Lee Woong-hee and Kang Soo-yeon, with a script by Jeon Sun-young, and produced by Studio N and Monster Union, this drama is a 'no-brake' romance fantasy that unfolds when an ordinary college student's soul inhabits a minor character in a romance novel and spends a night with the novel's most obsessive male lead.

The unpredictable romance between Cha Seon-cheok (played by Seo Hyun), a minor character possessed by real-life college student K, and the cold-hearted male lead Lee Beom (played by Ok Taec-yeon), who becomes obsessed after their first night, is set to captivate viewers. The intricate relationships within the romance novel's world are also drawing attention.

Central to the story are the relationships involving Cha Seon-cheok, Lee Beom, Jo Eun-ae (played by Kwon Han-sol), Jung Soo-gyeom (played by Seo Beom-jun), and Do Hwa-seon (played by Ji Hye-won). Jo Eun-ae, a character K supported as a novel reader before possession, shares a friendship with Cha Seon-cheok. Jung Soo-gyeom, who admires Jo Eun-ae, finds himself in a complex emotional situation due to Cha Seon-cheok's presence. Do Hwa-seon, who has feelings for Lee Beom, shows hostility towards Cha Seon-cheok and Jo Eun-ae.

The Cha family, centered around Cha Seon-cheok, adds warmth and humor to the drama. Her father, Cha Ho-yeol (played by Seo Hyun-chul), and mother, Yoon Deok-jeong (played by Yoon Yoo-sun), provide a supportive environment for their youngest daughter. Her three brothers each show their affection in unique ways: the eldest, Cha Jang-ho (played by Lee Sang-woon), the second brother, Cha Doo-ho (played by Kim Shin-bi), and the youngest, Cha Se-ho (played by Yoon Jung-hoon), who adds a comedic touch with his detective-like curiosity.

In contrast, the royal family and court surrounding Lee Beom are filled with tension. King Seol-jong (played by Joo Seok-tae), who ascended the throne through purges, the inscrutable Queen Dowager (played by Nam Gi-ae), royal relative Do Bae-myung (played by Jung Hee-tae), conservative official Jeong Mun-seok (played by Jung Ho-bin), and merchant Jo Byeong-mu (played by Kim Young-woong) create a complex power dynamic.

Loyal figures stand by Lee Beom amidst the harsh power struggles. Haengnang A-beom (played by Song Young-jae), who has been with him since childhood, understands him deeply, while Ma Yoon (played by Yoon Tae-ha) remains fiercely loyal.

Additionally, Seong Hyun-gun Lee Gyu (played by Lee Tae-sun), who has ties to both Cha Seon-cheok and Lee Beom, adds tension. Once close to Cha Seon-cheok in childhood and a cousin to Lee Beom, Lee Gyu returns from exile to find the changed Cha Seon-cheok suspicious and clashes with Lee Beom.

Mysterious characters also pique interest. A mysterious boy (played by Lee Joo-won) appears at pivotal moments, while the shaman Seol-gi (played by Kim Ah-young) offers cryptic insights into K's presence within Cha Seon-cheok.

'I Took the Male Lead's First Night' premieres on KBS 2TV on June 11th at 9:50 PM.
