Actress Go Youn-jung Reflects on Completing 'Resident Playbook'

Recently, at a café in Gangnam, Seoul, Go Youn-jung, who starred in the tvN weekend drama 'Resident Playbook' (created by Shin Won-ho, Lee Woo-jung / directed by Lee Min-soo / written by Kim Song-hee), sat down for an interview.
'Resident Playbook' follows the journey of medical residents aspiring to become wise doctors, capturing their growth through various challenges. In the drama, Go Youn-jung played the role of Oh Yi-young, a first-year obstetrics and gynecology resident.
The drama, initially set to air in May last year, was delayed for about a year due to a resident doctors' strike. Given the delay in airing after filming, the conclusion of the series holds special significance.
Go Youn-jung expressed, "It's been a year since filming, so I don't remember the details clearly. I'm watching it from about 80% of a viewer's perspective, wondering, 'What happened to them?' I couldn't recall which episode Oh Yi-young confessed in. My previous work 'Moving' also took a year to release due to extensive post-production, so it was enjoyable despite the delay."

The delay wasn't just due to the strike; recent tvN dramas have faced low ratings, adding pressure. 'Resident Playbook' has been credited with reviving the network's drama lineup. Go Youn-jung noted, "At the time, I was filming 'Is This Love Translatable?' so I didn't feel the slump. The excitement of the drama airing was greater. We didn't have high expectations, but seeing the ratings gradually rise was thrilling for the cast. I wish it had been extended to 16 episodes."
