Kang Ha-neul Opens Up About His 'Good Deed Vending Machine' Nickname on 'You Quiz on the Block'

Kang Ha-neul, a 1990-born actor and graduate of the Korean Traditional Arts High School, recently addressed the stories surrounding his reputation for kindness.

On the October 23rd episode of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block,' the 'Power of Inner Strength' special featured Kang Ha-neul as a guest, where he shared intriguing anecdotes.

Yoo Jae-suk mentioned, "Your nickname is 'Good Deed Vending Machine,' isn't it?" and recounted various stories about Kang's character. He noted, "Before starting a project, you reportedly memorize the staff's names by obtaining the contact list, and you even gifted cell phones to the youngest staff members. You prefer the front seat over the back when riding with your manager, and during your military service, you helped your comrades by cleaning their ears or popping their pimples."

Kang Ha-neul humbly responded, "Honestly, I want to say 'no' to all of it. These aren't special actions unique to me; many people already do these things."

When Jo Se-ho asked, "Is it true you gifted cell phones to the youngest staff members?" Kang clarified, "It wasn't to all staff, just the youngest ones. After finishing a recent film shoot, I wanted to express my gratitude."

Yoo Jae-suk further inquired, "Is it true you look for the staff contact list?" Kang explained, "I was inspired by Yoo Jae-suk's example on 'Infinite Challenge,' where he called each staff member by name. It created a warm atmosphere on set. Calling colleagues 'hey you' seems impersonal."

Yoo Jae-suk also remarked, "I've seen your high school graduation photo, and you were very handsome. I heard you received a lot of chocolates on Valentine's Day." He jokingly added, "There's a story that your father could have bought a house by selling all the chocolates. Be honest."

Kang Ha-neul laughed and replied, "That's not true. I received one or two, but my father keeps spreading that story, which is embarrassing. I don't know where he got it from."

When Jo Se-ho suggested, "You must have received love letters," Kang admitted, "I think I did receive some." Yoo Jae-suk humorously added, "I've never received one," eliciting laughter.
