Singer Jung Soo-yeon Opens Up About Her Two Divorces and Life as a Single Mom

Singer Jung Soo-yeon has candidly shared her feelings about going through two divorces.

On the October 13th episode of MBN's 'Special World,' Jung Soo-yeon, who won the 2019 MBN audition program 'Voice Queen,' made an appearance.

During her time on 'Voice Queen,' Jung Soo-yeon revealed that she was a single mom with a son. Despite the anticipation for her active career following her win, she disappeared from the public eye after just a year, sparking curiosity.

In the broadcast, Jung Soo-yeon shared her daily life with her 11-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter. She mentioned that she had her daughter after remarrying.

Jung Soo-yeon expressed, "I thought it would be uncomfortable. Continuing to hide this and hearing things like 'she's been divorced twice,' 'she has kids with different last names and has been divorced twice'—I couldn't live with that. In a way, I was living a play, but now the play is over."

Her parents, saddened by her situation, said, "After failing once, you should have been more cautious about marriage. I pleaded with you because I didn't like him. I said no to the divorce." They also revealed, "I was about to cut ties with you back then." Jung Soo-yeon tearfully admitted, "I didn't think people would treat me badly. I talk a lot about it. I've hurt my parents twice."

Jung Soo-yeon lives with her two children in the apartment above her parents, who help with childcare when she has work commitments. "I moved here because I have a lot of work, and it's a blessing to live just one floor above my parents," she said. Her parents even secured a rental home for her to support her as a single mom.

After winning 'Voice Queen,' Jung Soo-yeon received attention for her remarriage and pregnancy news. She confessed, "When I participated in the competition, I was a single mom after having a child out of wedlock and divorcing immediately. I remarried, had another child, and divorced again. If someone else went through what I did, I would have judged them too." She added, "I was so scared that I just wanted to hide. I lived like a dead person."

Now, five years later, Jung Soo-yeon is dreaming of a comeback. "I want to be a good mom and raise my kids well. I also want to become a great singer to repay my parents who believe in me, support me, and help me," she vowed.
