Tensions Rise in 'Wongyeong' as Cha Joo-young's Character Faces Betrayal and Intrigue

The episode highlighted the conflict as Lee Bang-won, in a dramatic scene, drew a knife from Wongyeong's embrace and stabbed Yeong-sil (played by Lee Si-ah), declaring, "This is the only way to save you. You won't die, but you'll live as if you were dead." Despite the injury, Yeong-sil was told by the royal physician that her life was not in danger, though future pregnancies would be impossible. Wongyeong, upon hearing this, confronted Yeong-sil, criticizing her for seeking validation solely from one man and advising her to find her own meaning in life.
Meanwhile, Lee Bang-won, during a secret outing, witnessed a peasant collapse in the fields, which he learned belonged to Wongyeong's brothers, Min Mu-gu (played by Han Seung-won) and Min Mu-jil (played by Kim Woo-dam). On his way back to the palace, he was advised by Yi Suk-bun (played by Park Yong-woo) to bring in Gwon Seon (played by Yeon Si-woo) as a concubine to counter Wongyeong's influence. Lee Bang-won, aiming to weaken the Min family's power, ordered Ha Ryun (played by Choi Deok-moon) to oversee the ceremonial preparations.
Wongyeong was furious upon learning of Lee Bang-won's plans to install Gwon Seon as a concubine. In a heated confrontation, she warned Lee Bang-won that the people would perceive the ceremony as a new royal marriage, potentially leading to political turmoil. She declared her intention to return to her family if he proceeded, prompting Lee Bang-won to reflect on his actions.
Lee Bang-won, reminiscing about his memories with Wongyeong, eventually visited her, confessing, "I came because I missed you." He agreed to cancel the ceremonial preparations, and the two shared a passionate moment.

Episode 6 of 'Wongyeong' will air on the 21st at 8:50 PM on tvN. Episodes 5 and 6 are available for early viewing on TVING.
