Girls' Generation's Seohyun and Yoona Caught in Controversy Due to Co-Stars' Scandals

Seohyun and Yoona of Girls' Generation find themselves in an uncomfortable spotlight at the start of the new year due to controversies involving their male co-stars. Known for their impeccable self-management and consistent dedication, the two have been beloved by the public for years. However, unexpected scandals involving their partners in recent projects have brought them unwanted attention.

At the 'KBS Drama Awards' held as a recorded broadcast at the end of last year, actor Kim Jung-hyun took the stage and admitted, "There were many things I needed to reflect on," bowing his head. Although he did not specify whom he was apologizing to, his statement reminded many of his inappropriate behavior at the 2018 MBC drama 'Time' press conference.

During that event, Kim Jung-hyun displayed unprofessional behavior by refusing to link arms with his co-star Seohyun and maintaining a stoic demeanor. He eventually left the project citing health reasons, while Seohyun continued to lead the show, earning praise for her professionalism. In 2021, it was revealed that Kim's actions were influenced by his then-girlfriend Seo Ye-ji's gaslighting, reigniting the controversy.

Now, nearly four years later, Seohyun is once again entangled in the issue due to Kim's unilateral public apology. Critics argue that if Kim truly intended to apologize, a private approach would have been more appropriate. His public apology, witnessed by many, is seen as lacking consideration for Seohyun, with some viewing it as a 'sorry attack' rather than a sincere apology.

Yoona is also facing difficulties due to a scandal involving Park Sung-hoon, her co-star in the upcoming tvN drama 'The Chef of the Tyrant.' Park sparked controversy by posting a nude photo of a Japanese AV actress on his social media on December 30th. Although he quickly deleted the post, the image had already spread, severely damaging his reputation. His implausible explanations during the subsequent clarification process only worsened the situation.

'The Chef of the Tyrant,' directed by Jang Tae-yoo, known for works like 'Deep Rooted Tree,' 'My Love from the Star,' and 'Flower Blooming at Night,' stars Yoona and has been highly anticipated. The collaboration between Yoona and Director Jang drew significant attention even before its release. However, the personal issues of her co-star have negatively impacted both the drama's image and Yoona's reputation. Having maintained a spotless record for 17 years, Yoona finds herself in an unfair predicament.

Since debuting with Girls' Generation in 2007, Seohyun and Yoona have built a reputation for exemplary conduct, earning the public's trust. Yet, they are now unintentionally in the spotlight due to the unfortunate controversies surrounding their male co-stars. The public expresses sympathy for their situation.
