Is ignorance of industry trends something to boast about as a broadcaster? Regular hosts Seo Jang-hoon and Lee Soo-geun have sparked controversy with their lack of preparation and rude demeanor towards guests, leading to discussions about the potential cancellation of Kang Ho-dong's flagship variety show, JTBC's 'Knowing Bros'.

On the 461st episode aired on the 30th of last month, the mixed-gender trio 'Jassby' (Jaejae, Seunghun, and Gabi) appeared. Formed through the web variety show 'MMTG's content 'The Great Jassby', they released their debut song 'All the Moments with You' on November 11, breaking into the Melon Chart TOP100 and gaining significant attention. Riding this wave of popularity, Jassby appeared on 'Knowing Bros', drawing attention with their high-energy member composition.

Despite their limited experience on major variety shows, Jassby made every effort to liven up the atmosphere. They focused on showcasing their wit and actively promoting themselves, displaying vibrant charm through performances and their 'Loyalty Song'. However, despite their efforts, some regular cast members responded with indifferent and cold expressions. In a variety show where interaction between cast and guests is fundamental, Seo Jang-hoon and Lee Soo-geun, unfamiliar with Jassby, appeared to evaluate them from a superior position, inviting criticism.

The episode featured a total of seven hosts, including Kang Ho-dong, Seo Jang-hoon, Kim Young-chul, Lee Soo-geun, Kim Hee-chul, Lee Sang-min, and Shindong, with Min Kyung-hoon absent due to his honeymoon. While Kang Ho-dong, Kim Young-chul, and Shindong tried to energize the guests, more than half of the members, excluding them, failed to even provide minimal reactions, disappointing viewers. Kang Ho-dong attempted to maintain the program's balance with exaggerated reactions to boost the guests' energy, but Seo Jang-hoon and Lee Soo-geun remained consistently expressionless and indifferent, raising doubts about their qualifications as hosts.

Hosts like Yoo Jae-suk, Jang Do-yeon, and Jaejae are often praised for their thorough guest research and lively reactions that entertain viewers. However, the regular hosts of 'Knowing Bros', excluding Kang Ho-dong, Kim Young-chul, and Shindong, displayed contrasting attitudes, unable to escape criticism for their lack of professionalism. Their ignorance of guests and passive, defensive stance were sufficient reasons for criticism.

Negative evaluations of the 'Knowing Bros' hosts are not new. Criticism that the cast is out of touch with trends and merely riding the program's coattails has been persistent. Despite this, the regular cast has shown no improvement, instead becoming more complacent, exacerbating the issue. Since its first broadcast in December 2015, 'Knowing Bros' has consistently aired but recently has been stuck at a 1% viewership rating, with some members' rude behavior risking alienating even its loyal audience.

Seo Jang-hoon, Lee Soo-geun, and the rest of the cast are not forced or pressured to appear on 'Knowing Bros'. They are paid substantial fees to lead the program. Therefore, it is their duty to possess the basic skills and responsibility as hosts, to invigorate guests, and to provide laughter to viewers. Ignoring this and maintaining a negligent attitude is a self-denial of their qualifications as hosts, only disappointing the public and guests.
