Disney+ Series 'The Light Shop' Cast Praises Director Kim Hee-won at Press Conference
The cast of 'The Light Shop' expressed their satisfaction working with director Kim Hee-won on his first series.

On the 3rd, a press conference for the Disney+ original series 'The Light Shop' was held at the Grand Ballroom of the COEX Convention Center in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Attendees included director Kim Hee-won, writer Kang Full, and actors Ju Ji-hoon, Park Bo-young, Kim Seol-hyun, Um Tae-goo, Lee Jung-eun, Kim Min-ha, Park Hyuk-kwon, Shin Eun-soo, and Kim Sun-hwa.

'The Light Shop' tells the story of a mysterious shop at the end of a dark alley that attracts customers with secrets. The series is penned by Kang Full, the original webtoon author, who previously received acclaim for the webtoon-based drama 'Moving' released last year.

Ju Ji-hoon plays Jung Won-young, the owner of the light shop, which is the only source of light at the end of a dark alley. Park Bo-young portrays Kwon Young-ji, a nurse in an intensive care unit who can see people on the boundary between life and death.

The actors shared their experiences working with director Kim Hee-won. Ju Ji-hoon remarked, "Often, we find ourselves unable to do what seems obvious. Working with director Kim Hee-won, who is also a senior actor, felt like a textbook on directing. His consistent presence during pre-production, adhering to scheduled hours, was admirable. It was a privilege to work in such a well-organized environment."

Park Bo-young added, "I was surprised because the director is also an actor. If there were complex movements during filming, he would try them himself and make adjustments. After filming, he would always call to ask, 'Was it okay?' or 'How was it?' He was warm and meticulous." Ju Ji-hoon humorously noted, "I didn't receive any calls," while Lee Jung-eun added with a laugh, "I think I was the one who called."

Kim Min-ha shared, "He trusted us 100%. He encouraged us to explore our imaginations freely, which boosted our confidence. I was able to do everything I wanted to do, and he facilitated that. I also received a few texts and calls, which were genuinely warm. It was cold as it was transitioning from fall to winter, but he took care of those details. I felt proud and warm on my way home." Um Tae-goo shyly confirmed, "I received a call."

'The Light Shop' will be available on Disney+ starting November 4th.
