MBC Drama 'The Call You Are Making' Soars to Global Fame, Dominates Netflix Rankings

MBC's Friday-Saturday drama 'The Call You Are Making' is enjoying global popularity.

According to FlixPatrol, a site that tracks OTT service rankings, 'The Call You Are Making' ranked 2nd worldwide in the Netflix 'TV SHOW' category just two weeks after its release. It claimed the top spot in 33 countries, including Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Indonesia, Qatar, Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil, maintaining its number one position from November 26 to December 2, following the release of its first two episodes.

The drama also topped the TV-OTT drama category in the 4th week of November, according to FUNdex, the official platform of Good Data Corporation. Actors Yoo Yeon-seok and Chae Soo-bin ranked 1st and 2nd in actor popularity, showcasing their strong presence. Notably, the two actors have a real-life age difference of 10 years.

The drama's buzz was further evidenced by its 1st place in VON (Voice of Netizen) and 2nd place in video views and TV OTT search responses, solidifying its status as a trending drama with enthusiastic viewer interest.

In episodes 3 and 4, aired on November 29 and 30, the relationship between the show-window couple Baek Sa-eon (played by Yoo Yeon-seok) and Hong Hee-joo (played by Chae Soo-bin) took a new turn. Sa-eon publicly acknowledged Hee-joo's presence for the first time to protect her. He also displayed complex emotions upon hearing his wife's voice for the first time in 20 years. At the end of episode 4, the two characters, unable to express their feelings directly, communicated through a threatening phone call, each holding their phones to their ears. The revelation of Hee-joo's secret, hidden for over 20 years, left viewers eagerly anticipating Sa-eon's next move.
