Golf Legend Inbee Park and Husband Nam Gi-hyeob Consider Raising Their Daughter as a Golfer
Inbee Park and Nam Gi-hyeob have expressed their intention to raise their child as a golfer.
The Park family appeared on the KBS 2TV show 'The Return of Superman' on the 13th.
Golfer Inbee Park married swing coach Nam Gi-hyeob in 2014. Park's accumulated prize money is reported to be around 23.7 billion KRW (approximately $20 million USD). Inbee Park shared her love story with her husband, stating, "I was interested, so I reached out first," revealing their connection that began in the U.S. in 2006. She added, "Meeting my husband improved my golf game and brought me emotional stability. Before meeting him, I had only won once, but after, I achieved 26 victories." She expressed gratitude towards her husband, saying, "I think we achieved these accomplishments together."
The couple welcomed their first daughter, In-seo, last April, nine years into their marriage. Nam Gi-hyeob humorously described their parenting dynamic, saying, "When it comes to childcare, my wife is the control tower, and I'm like a subordinate or loyal servant." Inbee Park proudly shared about their 18-month-old daughter, "In-seo is lively and full of energy, unlike me. Her smile is so beautiful." She also revealed, "I'm currently pregnant with our second child, due in about two weeks. We're a family of three now, but soon we'll be four."
Their daughter In-seo caught attention by watching her mom's golf videos intently. Nam Gi-hyeob speculated, "It seems In-seo likes golf. Will she be right-handed or left-handed?" Inbee Park added, "I hope she doesn't take after her uncle and become left-handed." Nam Gi-hyeob, in a golfer's conversation, noted, "Right-handers are better at putting, but left-handers struggle. I'm left-handed myself."
Nam Gi-hyeob expressed his desire for their daughter to pursue golf, saying, "Seeing Inbee Park's life as a golfer, I strongly want In-seo to play golf." Inbee Park agreed, "It would be more economical than other extracurricular activities. We can coach her and know the fastest path. Plus, there's no lesson fee, so it's financially beneficial."
