Woo Da-bi Delivers Heartfelt Emotions in 'Jeong Nyeon'

Actress Woo Da-bi has touched audiences with her poignant portrayal in the tvN weekend drama 'Jeong Nyeon'.

Woo Da-bi appeared as Hong Ju-ran in episodes 9 and 10 of 'Jeong Nyeon', which aired on the 9th and 10th. The drama is set in the 1950s, post-Korean War, and follows the journey of Jeong Nyeon, a naturally gifted singer played by Kim Tae-ri, as she joins and grows within a female national theater troupe. Woo Da-bi's character, Hong Ju-ran, is the only one who treats Jeong Nyeon warmly amidst jealousy and envy from others.

Hong Ju-ran is seen worrying and feeling guilty over Jeong Nyeon, who is unable to sing due to a throat injury. Her genuine concern and tears for her friend deeply moved viewers. Additionally, she faced a personal dilemma of choosing between her family and her passion for theater, adding to her sorrow.

Hong Ju-ran quietly supported Jeong Nyeon, who struggled with her voice, while preparing for 'The Fool and the Princess' with Heo Young-seo, played by Shin Ye-eun. She expressed her guilt by saying, "I feel sorry for you, so I want to do at least this much. It's all my fault."

However, Jeong Nyeon drew a line, telling Hong Ju-ran, "This is my decision, it has nothing to do with you. Please don't do this because it burdens me." Accepting this, Hong Ju-ran turned away in tears. Her sadness deepened when Jeong Nyeon eventually left the troupe.

Hong Ju-ran also faced the possibility of giving up theater. Her mother urged her to return home, offering a good marriage prospect that would help care for her sick sister. This added to Hong Ju-ran's grief, as she had hoped to grow alongside Jeong Nyeon in their performances.

Despite this, Hong Ju-ran awaited Jeong Nyeon's return and performed in 'The Fool and the Princess'. Her improved acting skills earned her applause from the audience.

Woo Da-bi stars in the tvN weekend drama 'Jeong Nyeon', airing every Saturday and Sunday at 9:20 PM.
