In the 9th and 10th episodes of JTBC's Wednesday drama 'Assembled Family', aired on the 6th, the story of three young adults, Kim San-ha (played by Hwang In-yeop), Yoon Joo-won (played by Jung Chae-yeon), and Kang Hae-joon (played by Bae Hyun-sung), who reunite as adults, unfolded. The 9th episode recorded a viewership rating of 2.6% in the metropolitan area and 2.9% nationwide, while the 10th episode achieved 2.9% in the metropolitan area and 3.2% nationwide, according to Nielsen Korea's paid household standards.
In the 9th episode, the poignant farewell of the 'assembled family' delivered a touching emotional impact. Kim San-ha, who decided to move to Seoul, promised Yoon Joo-won, who tearfully asked him not to leave, that he would never leave again once he returned. Kang Hae-joon, who was heading to the U.S., gave Yoon Joo-won, who loves sweets, a handful of jelly and candy. Additionally, the two shared heartfelt goodbyes with Yoon Jung-jae (played by Choi Won-young) and Kim Dae-wook (played by Choi Moo-sung) before setting off on their respective paths.
Ten years later, the two brothers, now grown adults, returned to Haedong ahead of Yoon Joo-won's birthday. Kang Hae-joon, sneaking into a bakery without Yoon Joo-won, was mistaken for a thief, and later, Kim San-ha joined him, leading to an unexpected reunion of the five family members at the police station.
Yoon Joo-won, who was expected to be delighted, surprised everyone with her cold demeanor. Feeling hurt by the increasingly distant contact from the two brothers after they left, Yoon Joo-won began to draw a line with them, who suddenly returned and decided to stay in Haedong again. The subtly awkward atmosphere among the three, who had grown from innocent teenagers to mature adults, piqued curiosity about how the story would unfold.
In the 10th episode, the two brothers began their life in Haedong in earnest, undeterred by Yoon Joo-won's coldness. Kim San-ha transferred to Myungju University Hospital to work as a resident, while Kang Hae-joon, despite his shabby appearance, started looking at buildings in Haedong city with a real estate agent, arousing curiosity. Particularly, the move to the neighboring house where Yoon Joo-won and Park Dal (played by Seo Ji-hye), who became a lawyer, live, hinted at extraordinary events to come.
During Yoon Joo-won's birthday dinner, where the whole family gathered after a long time, the unfortunate story of Kang Hae-joon was revealed. Kang Hae-joon, once a promising basketball player, had to quit his career after injuring his leg in the U.S. The family was shocked by this revelation, and Yoon Jung-jae, with tears in his eyes, warmly embraced Kang Hae-joon, who must have been scared and in pain in a foreign place.
Kim San-ha gradually revealed his feelings for Yoon Joo-won. He waited in front of the bakery until Yoon Joo-won finished work and took her home, and he questioned Yoon Joo-won's friend Lee Jun-ho (played by Yoon Sang-hyun), who started working with them, to check on Yoon Joo-won's current relationship status. However, at the end of the episode, Kim San-ha, who went to see Yoon Joo-won before her date, held her hand and confessed, "I like you. It took me 10 years to say this."
