Actor Jo Byung-gyu Donates Entire Proceeds from Play 'Island' to Charity
Actor Jo Byung-gyu has donated the entire proceeds from the play 'Island' to charity.
On the 7th, HB Entertainment announced, "Jo Byung-gyu has donated the entire proceeds of 25 million won from the play 'Island', which concluded in July, to Habitat for Humanity Korea." The donation will be used to improve the living conditions of families of independence activists who are living in poor housing conditions.
Jo Byung-gyu is known to have personally planned this performance to help the descendants of independence activists and marginalized neighbors. During the preparation of the play, he informed his fans via social media that he would donate all ticket proceeds, and the performance received a great response, selling out every show.
Notably, in this performance, Jo Byung-gyu took the stage in a two-person play format with actor Yoo In-soo, with whom he worked in the tvN drama 'The Uncanny Counter 2: Counter Punch' last year. Jo Byung-gyu delivered a lively and captivating performance, earning much praise from the audience.
Habitat for Humanity Korea expressed, "We deeply appreciate Jo Byung-gyu's positive influence. The donation will be used transparently to improve the housing conditions of the families of independence activists."
In July, Jo Byung-gyu was appointed as an ambassador for the 'Just Miracle' campaign, a project to spread the culture of giving by the Community Chest of Korea. Therefore, this donation to the descendants of independence activists adds even more significance to his charitable activities. He recently released his first single, 'Don't Cry'.
