Wi Ha-jun Reveals Behind-the-Scenes Audition Story for 'Squid Game'
Actor Wi Ha-jun has shared behind-the-scenes details of his audition for 'Squid Game'.
On the 29th, the YouTube channel 'Jjan Hang Hyung' uploaded a video titled, "'I'll get fired if I say more.' Wi Ha-jun Spoils 'Squid Game 2' Just Before Getting Fired." In the video, Wi Ha-jun appeared and discussed various topics. Shin Dong-yup asked Wi Ha-jun if he had auditioned for 'Squid Game'. Wi Ha-jun replied, "Yes, at that time, the role of the undercover cop was not yet cast. I was filming another drama. The director said, 'I don't want actors who are overlapping with other projects.'" Wi Ha-jun continued, "I thought I wouldn't have a chance with this project. Then my manager told me to 'just sit here and do a light reading.' I went there without any pressure, even popping a pimple beforehand. I didn't think it was an audition. When I entered the room, there were numerous cameras waiting." He added, "My hair was a mess, and I was wearing a hat poorly. Just in case, I had memorized the entire script. I took off my hat and started acting, from shooting a gun to getting hit. That's how I got the part." Wi Ha-jun concluded, "I realized that one must always be prepared." Yoo Jae-pil added, "I also auditioned for 'Squid Game Season 2'. I have a bit of an actor's dream. I did a script reading with the assistant director, and I went fully styled."
Yoo Jae-pil continued, "When I went in with full hair and makeup, the assistant director asked, 'Why did you come so prepared?' I went all out," causing laughter.
