Veteran Actor Lee Soon-jae Shares Excitement for Upcoming Drama 'Dog Sound'

Veteran actor Lee Soon-jae has shared his thoughts on starring in the upcoming drama 'Dog Sound'.

Set to premiere on September 25th, KBS 2TV's new Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Dog Sound' is a situational comedy that follows the lively and audacious growth of seniors and a retired police dog named 'Sophie'.

In the drama, Lee Soon-jae plays a character named 'Lee Soon-jae', a once-beloved national actor who becomes embroiled in a scandal on set and is labeled as a tyrant. He retreats to Geoje Island for a therapeutic getaway and encounters mysterious events while living with his long-time colleagues from the broadcasting industry. During this time, he experiences a supernatural phenomenon that allows him to understand the speech of the dog Sophie, which helps him uncover clues to the truth.

Lee Soon-jae revealed that he was drawn to the fresh concept of 'Dog Sound'. He said, "It's the first time in our country that a drama involves direct communication with a dog, which felt unique. I was interested and had high expectations because it was a new type of acting." He added, "As the days went by, my relationship with Sophie grew closer, which helped the filming progress. Acting with a dog that doesn't communicate was challenging, but I think it was a good attempt. In this sense, 'Dog Sound' is a very meaningful work."

Celebrating his 69th year in acting, Lee Soon-jae expressed his gratitude for the synergy with co-stars Kim Yong-gun, Ye Soo-jung, Im Chae-moo, and Song Ok-sook. He said, "I greatly benefited from my fellow actors. It would have been tough alone, but having seasoned actors by my side created a harmonious and positive atmosphere. This allowed me to enjoy filming with young and new actors as well."

When asked about what keeps him motivated, Lee Soon-jae replied, "The only way is to do your best. You must be punctual and thoroughly prepared." He also shared his acting philosophy, stating, "An actor is someone who creates art, so there is no end to that goal. I always strive for perfection and novelty. Experienced actors should carry a sense of responsibility and contribute to the drama."

'Dog Sound' promises to deliver fresh entertainment to home viewers by encompassing healing, comedy, and mystery genres. The drama boasts a legendary lineup, including Lee Soon-jae, Kim Yong-gun, Ye Soo-jung, Im Chae-moo, Song Ok-sook, Park Sung-woong, Yeonwoo, Kim Ji-young, and Lee Soo-kyung.

Supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency as OTT-specialized content, 'Dog Sound' is written by Byun Sook-kyung, known for 'Nonstop 5', and directed by Kim Yoo-jin, recognized for her work on 'Revenge of Others' and 'The Undateables'.

'Dog Sound' is set to premiere on September 25th.
