SHINee, friendship ring for 16th anniversary of debut with late Jonghyun → Behind the scenes of ‘Lucifer’
In MBC's 'What Do You Do When You Play?' broadcast on the 25th, an encounter with SHINee, a guest who joined 'Our Festival', was depicted. Coincidentally, the broadcast date was the same as SHINee's debut date, May 25th, which added additional meaning.
SHINee met when I was a teenager and now I'm in my 30s. Following 'Juliet', 'Ring Ding Dong', which is Yoo Jae-seok's favorite song and is also known as a song banned from college entrance exams, was played. Taemin said, “Actually, the members hated ‘Ring Ding Dong’” and confessed that they thought it did not match SHINee’s color, which was previously represented by ‘boyish’ and ‘refreshing’. To this, Yoo Jae-seok responded, “I thought, ‘These guys have finally opened their ears.’” Regarding ‘Lucifer’, the song that raised Jeon Hyun-moo, Key said, “Hyun-moo said that he helped me a lot with Free Declaration.” Onew added, “When we were promoting in Japan, Hyunmoo filled the empty spot in Korea,” and Taemin added, “He is the 6th member,” making everyone laugh.
'Sherlock', SHINee's signature song and a song that marked a milestone in the history of idol choreography, made everyone's hearts boil from the beginning. Key confessed, “At that time, everyone was full of venom” and “I had a strong compulsion to beat SHINee in the previous work,” and Taemin told the story behind the scenes, saying, “At that time, Jonghyun hyung used his arm exercises as a trophy for the awards ceremony.” 'View', the song that brought SHINee back to their original roots, attracted attention as the song most often chosen by members as their favorite song.
Lastly, SHINee showed a preview performance that made people look forward to 'our festival'. They performed ‘Ring Ding Dong’, ‘Lucifer’, and ‘Sherlock’ one after another, making the scene excited. Meanwhile, the viewer rating of households in the metropolitan area for 'What Do You Do When You Play?', which aired on this day, recorded 3.8%. The 2049 viewership rating, a key indicator that measures channel competitiveness and topicality, rose to 2.4%, ranking first in its time slot as well as first in Saturday entertainment. The best minute was the scene of 'Paper Doll' Joo Woo-jae lying down under 'Takbam Killer' Onew's super-powerful Takbam therapy, and the highest viewer rating at that moment soared to 4.4%.
