He said, "My father worked at a bank. When I was in high school, I was in charge of public enterprise funds, so I lived like that. I went to the military, and every time I came on vacation, my family was in trouble. A lot of things happened while I was away from home. My father fell ill, retired, bought a house, and land. “I was going through a lot of problems. My house went from rent to monthly rent, and then to a single room,” he confessed.
Lim Ha-ryong said, “After I was discharged from the military, I did plays at school, but one day my professor said, ‘Why are you doing plays if you didn’t even pay tuition?’” and said that he dropped out of university. He continued, “My senior helped me join the theater company because I had nowhere else to go.” However, Lim Ha-ryong, who found it difficult to make a living with the income from the theater company, said, "I became an emcee at a night business. During the day, I worked as an assistant at a hospital. I worked two jobs."
Lim Ha-ryong said, “When I lived with my wife, we didn’t have a room, so my parents and brothers slept upstairs, and I took care of my wife in my mother’s stall downstairs.” He continued, "The worst thing was that we got a room where there were six households. There was only one bathroom for each of the six households. It was a one-room house with an attic, and my wife and I went up to the attic, and my parents and four brothers stayed in the room. "he said.
It is said that Lim Ha-ryong fell in love at first sight with his wife, who was 20 years old at the time and was 9 years younger than her, during a difficult time, and ended up marrying her after a difficult time. Lim Ha-ryong said about his first meeting with his wife, "It was a pretty woman wearing a purple short-sleeved T-shirt. She suddenly greeted me as I was passing by and said, 'You're pretty.' My wife was a junior singer who performed when I was a restaurant MC. I remember passing by like that. “He said hello.” He then recalled, "My wife's acquaintances said, 'Don't date a boy who is like a bully.' My wife didn't see me as a bully and was curious about me."
It is said that Lim Ha-ryong began living together with his wife despite strong opposition from his wife's family. It is said that the two officially got married when their son was 4 years old.
