On the 16th, Sumi Jo received an honorary doctorate in science and technology from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). When asked why he received his doctorate from KAIST rather than the University of the Arts, he answered that it was to contribute to artificial intelligence research, starting with the question, "Can Avatar Sumi Jo have the 'voice given by God' recognized by Karajan?" He then expressed his feelings about becoming a doctor of engineering, saying, “I wanted to show how science and art can coexist.”

The Sumi Jo International Competition will be held in France this July. Sumi Jo said, “I have achieved my dream of creating a competition named after myself,” and also reveals the special selection criteria for the ‘Sumi Jo Competition’. They are looking for a star who not only sings well but also delivers a message of peace. What is even more special is that the head of the jury for the Sumi Sumi Competition is not Sumi Sumi. He also reveals the story of how he became a judge, saying, “It would be difficult for a Korean who is good at vocals to take first, second, and third place.”

Sumi Jo is known as the first Asian prima donna to have won the top 5 opera houses in the world and swept the top 6 competitions in the world. He jumped into unknown territory and wrote the first history, saying, "I was curious how far I could go," and emphasized to the youth to have the courage to take an untraveled path. Soprano Sumi Jo, who was not afraid of failure and giving up, confesses her true feelings, saying, “I may seem like a strong older woman, but I am a funny and easy-going person.”
