Jang-won Lee, “1 in 200, I gave up on working at a financial company”
Peppertones' Shin Jae-pyeong and Lee Jang-won appeared as guests on tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block', which aired on the 18th.
The two students, class 1999 students in the Department of Computer Science at KAIST, revealed that they enrolled early at the age of 19. It is said that Shin Jae-pyeong was famous for being good at studying, to the point where he was selected as a Gyeonggi-do representative in high school. The combined IQs of the two people are said to be IQ 300. In their school records, each had an IQ of 150. Shin Jae-pyeong said, “Through the program, I was able to see the life record for the first time in a long time, and it was like that.”
Jang-won Lee said that he almost joined a financial company despite a competition rate of 200 to 1, but chose Peppertones instead. Jang-won Lee said, “I was only confirmed to be employed but did not join.” It is said that the two people talked about this. Shin Jae-pyeong said, "It was a time when we had a lot of worries. It was time for us to decide how we would live in the future. I am not sure and I don't know what will happen to our team .I told Jang Won, 'I will do my best in the future.' “I was grateful when Jang Won thought about it and decided to continue with Peppertones,” he said.
Lee Jang-won recalled that time, saying, “I was in my early 30s when I was worried about whether I would be financially okay when I focused solely on music.” Shin Jae-pyeong said, “I gave up my job, it was a good company and a valuable opportunity, but if Peppertones doesn't last long and falls apart and falls apart, I might regret it for the rest of my life,” and added, “It was then that I thought that we must do well. “It was a moment when a band that started out as a joke became heavy,” he recalled of the past.
When asked if he regretted giving up on financial companies, Lee Jang-won replied, "I was worried and concerned because my friends were starting to make money, but I wasn't. But I didn't regret it. First of all, "I chose what I liked."
Yoo Jae-seok said that Peppertones' songs often appear as insert songs in broadcasts and asked, "Isn't the copyright fee a lot of money?" Shin Jae-pyeong said, "It's all about showing. Performances, broadcast appearances, copyrights. (Copyright income) is not great. It is far less than those who disclosed copyright income on broadcasts. Although there are not many people who listen to Peppertones ' music, there are enthusiasts everywhere. “Thanks to this, we can continue to be a band.” Regarding his appearance at the event, Lee Jang-won added, "I can't do much," and asked Yoo Jae-seok to "please ask me some questions."
Lee Jang-won married musical actress Bae Da-hae in November 2021. When he announced the news of his marriage to Bae Da-hae, Shin Jae-pyeong wrote a letter expressing his sad feelings, saying, "I felt strange when I heard that Jang Won, who had been my friend since I was a teenager, was getting married." Shin Jae-pyeong wrote in his letter, 'You are so unfamiliar. He said, 'When I said, 'I'm meeting someone,' I thought he meant a game character,' and wrote, 'I'm a man with a family, but I can't believe I have to send my own little Jang-won to my family at age 40.'
Lee Jang-won said, “Jaepyeong got married a few years earlier than me, and I felt a little strange at the time,” and “Jaepyeong felt the same way when I heard that I was getting married.”
