Taewon Kim, aftereffects of recurrence of sepsis

Kim Tae-won appeared on tvN's 'Freehan Doctor', which aired on the 30th.
Taewon Kim revealed that he suffered from sepsis in 2016 due to alcoholism and is suffering from aftereffects after relapse in 2019. He said, "12 years ago, while appearing on KBS2's 'Qualifications of a Man', I discovered stomach cancer and surgery. Afterwards, I became addicted to alcohol. I drank 8 to 9 bottles of alcohol a day. When I drank alone, I drank 4 to 5 bottles a day. Withdrawal symptoms. “It wasn't easy to quit drinking so much,” he confessed.
Kim Tae-won, whose sepsis recurred, recalled that time, saying, "I was ad-libbing 'The More I Love You' on stage, and it had been 30 years, but suddenly I couldn't think of anything. My liver "went into shock. The bacteria had spread from the liver to the brain." He continued, “The cause was alcohol.”
Taewon Kim revealed that his audiovisual functions were damaged due to a recurrence of sepsis. He confessed, “I gave up my sense of smell. About 40% of my sense of taste, 50% of my hearing, 50% of my sense of sight, and 30% of my memory were lost.” Fortunately, he said, “I have been abstaining from drinking for about two years now,” and shared his current status of taking care of his body.
Taewon Kim also revealed why he has been living the life of a wild goose dad for 19 years. Taewon Kim said, “My wife and son have been living in the Philippines for over 10 years, and my daughter is attending university and graduate school in the United States, so I haven't seen her for 6 years.” Regarding the reason why his wife and son are staying in the Philippines, Taewon Kim said, "My son has autism spectrum disorder." He said, "It was hard to believe at the time, but it was three years ago that my son began to look more beautiful. Although his body is big, his thoughts are that of a child. That is also a blessing. Children leave their parents when they grow up. But not this one. My son is still a child. “I can't do it without my mom,” he said.
