Kang Seungyoon, turned into a butterfly and flew! ‘Immortal Songs’ YB edition winner
Kang Seung-yoon of KBS' 'Immortal Song' received recognition from the masterpiece judges as a 'YB Kids' and held the championship trophy in his arms. Through this performance, his wish to become a butterfly came true.

According to Nielsen Korea, an audience rating research agency, the 598th episode of KBS2's 'Immortal Songs' recorded 6.7% nationwide and 6.8% in the metropolitan area, ranking first in viewership ratings for the same time and Saturday entertainment for 13 consecutive weeks, confirming that it is the unchanging Saturday powerhouse.

The 598th episode of KBS2's 'Immortal Songs', which aired on the 18th, featured the second part of the 'Artist YB' special, with Kim Jin-ho, Kang Seung-yoon, UV, Espero, and Kim Chang-yeon going on stage and performing 'YB's songs that have great meaning in their lives. We started singing representative famous songs.

Jinho Kim opened the first stage. Kim Jin-ho selected ‘White Whale’, and in the beginning, he led the stage with only the power of his voice and a calm piano accompaniment. After the middle part, Kim Jin-ho overwhelmed the audience with a passionate song filled with heavy consolation. The audience on this stage, as well as the cast members in the talk waiting room, were unable to speak for a while, creating a moody atmosphere. Yoon Do-hyun expressed his admiration, saying, “It was a really deep and weighty performance, I was moved to tears.” In response, Jinho Kim expressed his emotions, saying, “I have achieved one of my life’s goals.”

The main character of the second stage is Kim Chang-yeon. 'Letting You Go', which started with a soft voice, harmonized beautifully with the choir members present, creating a fairytale-like stage. Kim Chang-yeon stole the audience's attention by showing off her high notes and singing skills with her clear voice. Many audiences listened intently to the stage, which had a different atmosphere from the original song. Yoon Do-hyun praised Chang-yeon, saying, “I thought it was really amazing that the young friend was so humble when singing,” and Kim Chang-yeon said, “It’s an honor. “Thank you,” he bowed his head. Kim Jin-ho, who has strong singing ability, defeated Kim Chang-yeon and won 1 game.

UV went on stage for the third time and sang ‘Tarzan’. UV, who has the nickname 'Immortal Heretic', presented 'Tarzan' arranged in a Korean traditional music version. UV captured everyone's attention with a pleasant and exciting stage composition amidst the sound of traditional Korean instruments and a band. The differentiated stage was completed with rap, laser show, and EDM in the middle of the stage, drawing cheers. Dohyun Yoon said, “It was a stage where I felt the virtues an artist should have,” and Jinho Kim, who was UV’s rival, also said, “I think it has its own unique color.” “It was a stage full of satire and humor,” he said, giving a thumbs up. UV, which showed experimentation and challenge, received more selections than Kim Jin-ho and won one victory.

Espero, who took the stage for the fourth time, selected ‘I Guess I Was in Love’. They completed a musical-like performance with ‘I Must Have Loved You’, which was arranged in a quartet crossover genre. The harmony of the four people brought greater emotion and joy. Yoon Do-hyun said, “I watched with fascination. It's cool, beautiful, and touching. He drew attention by sending an instant love call, saying, “I want to do something with Espero.” Espero also said, “I felt a lot of pressure because it was my first solo appearance, but I hope it will touch my heart deeply.” UV was surprised by once again beating Espero and continuing with two wins.

The final stage was decorated with Kang Seung-yoon's 'I am a Butterfly'. Kang Seungyoon, who introduced himself as 'YB Kids', moved around the stage like a butterfly and communicated with the audience. Kang Seungyoon left a great impression and moved people with his unrivaled singing ability and voice. While inheriting YB's spirit from 'I Am a Butterfly', he also captured admiration by capturing his own charm and identity. Park Tae-hee said, “I’m looking forward to what kind of stage Kang Seung-yoon will have tomorrow. “It was such a wonderful stage,” he praised. Kang Seungyoon also smiled and said, “I am very satisfied that many people enjoyed it.”

Kang Seung-yoon stopped UV's three-game winning streak and immediately grabbed the championship trophy. Kang Seung-yoon, who said, “I want to become a butterfly through this stage,” seemed to have conveyed his sincerity to the masterpiece judges, receiving the most votes and being recognized as a ‘YB Kids.’

In this special episode, each performer was deeply moved by singing YB's song, which had a great influence on their music life. As the performers' narratives were included in YB's spirit, the stage was enriched, and viewers were also able to enjoy the stage with much greater empathy. It is evaluated that the creation of stages where music and stories meet to create powerful synergy conveyed more weighty emotions than ever before.
