Uhm Jung-hwa, 'Cha Jeong-sook' 18.5%, 'Lo Newsroom' appearance

Actor Uhm Jung-hwa is making a hot move in the first half of this year.

JTBC's Saturday drama 'Doctor Cha Jeong-sook', starring Uhm Jung-hwa, wrote a new history of JTBC dramas in 2023 in 10 episodes. In the last 12 episodes, it recorded its highest ratings of 18.5% nationwide and 19.3% in the metropolitan area (Nielsen Korea, based on paid households), and continues to be a box office hit. Uhm Jung-hwa challenges residency after 20 years and plays the role of Cha Jeong-sook, who is in the second act of her life, and is overwriting her 'life character'.

Uhm Jung-hwa appeared on JTBC's 'News Room' on the 20th and expressed her feelings about the success of her work. He said, “I’m getting a lot of compliments saying that I saw it well. I am so grateful and happy,” he said, expressing his gratitude to the viewers with a happy heart. He continued, "At a time when the number of works being offered was decreasing, I was fortunate to meet 'Doctor Cha Jung-sook', and I think it was an opportunity to receive energy."

In addition, Eom Jung-hwa expressed her affection for the work and the character, saying, “I really liked Jung-sook, who was looking for her own happiness.” Then, he hinted, "I really like Cha Jung-sook's choice," amplifying the curiosity about the ending. As such, Uhm Jung-hwa swept topicality and ratings every day with 'Doctor Cha Jeong-suk' and stood at the center of the topic as a hot actor in the first half of this year. Uhm Jung-hwa is receiving praise from viewers for pouring out the joys and sorrows of Cha Jung-sook through her delicate yet powerful acting. Following 'Newsroom', he not only announced his appearance on tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block', but also announced his comeback as a singer with 'Dance Singer's Wandering Troupe', which is scheduled to premiere on the 25th, and is continuing his legendary journey again.
