PD Guk-yong Lee of MBN's new entertainment program 'The Resting Couple', which will start broadcasting in June, touches the taboo of 'sexless couple'. PD Lee honestly confided about the background of the planning of the 'Couple on Rest' in a straight-forward, direct answer.

The most focused part of 'Couple on Rest' is the couple's workshop. Several couples gathered to look back on their sex lives and objectively look at the causes of sexlessness through other couples. What I learned through the workshop was that it is more important for couples to share 'heart feelings' rather than finding 'erogenous zones'. This is also a theme that runs through the programs we have been making. The most important part of a relationship between a man and a woman is empathy and consideration. 'Couple on Rest' dealt with the subject most intensely and instinctively.
Q3. I am curious about the casting process.
According to statistics, 1 in 3 Korean couples say they are sexless. I thought it would not be easy to find couples who are taking a break from sex, but more people than I thought had this problem, and they joined the program to solve it together. In fact, sexless is the most secret and painful part of the couple's problems, and it is also a part where it is not possible to figure out how to solve it. Q4. What is the difference between 'Couple on Rest' and other couple entertainment shows?
After the couple's appearance on the show, even their position was considered in detail. From the first meeting with the couples, it seems that each couple chatted for about 3 hours. You had a lot of worries and I thought you had the will to solve them well. Knowing such aspirations well, I took a serious approach so that the couple's sex problem would not be volatilized as a light item in entertainment.
Q5. Who is the most memorable couple among the cast?
'Couple on Rest' deals with the overall problems of the marital relationship through sex. I mainly recruited couples in their 30s, but among them, there was a couple who bought a house and had to work two or three jobs while paying off the loan, and gave up everything due to exhaustion. Huge loans and debts have robbed them of their most intimate joys. Both of them were healthy in their early 30s, but when I heard them confess, "I don't even have the strength to lift a finger," I sympathized with them a lot and felt sad.
Q6. Through his previous work, 'We Got Divorced', he showed a sensuous production. Can we expect a mise-en-scène in 'Couple on Rest' as well?
The environment on set is the most important. In the place where the production team works, I think about whether the performers can talk freely and how honest they can be. In that sense, mise-en-scène is rather created by the performer. When they contain their true feelings intact, when they capture the moment when they are the most honest, I think that is the only truth. Even if you boldly give up camera lighting or audio, making time for the performers is the most important thing. It seems that my mise-en-scene is that there is no mise-en-scène.
Q7. I wonder why Shin Dong-yeop and Han Chae-ah were recruited as the main MCs of 'The Resting Couple', and how the two of them work together from the director's point of view.
Among domestic MCs, there is no one who can talk about 'sex' with honesty and dignity as Shin Dong-yeop. In 'We Got Divorced', he deeply sympathized with the joys and sorrows and conflicts of marriage as an experienced person, and in 'Couple on Rest', he generously gave advice and sympathy as an honest marriage senior. Han Chae-ah went beyond empathy and sometimes reacted as if it were her own business (?), and was honest about the recording to the point where there were times when she confused the production team.
