Director Kim Chul-gyu "Kang Min-hyuk and Jeon Hyo-seong, who felt inadequate, were called and visited"

Director Kim Chul-gyu, who directed the Netflix series 'Celebrity', mentioned Kang Min-hyuk and Jeon Hyo-seong.

Director Kim Chul-gyu met Ten Asia at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 3rd and told various stories about the Netflix series 'Celebrity', which was released on the 30th of last month.

'Celebrity' is the story of Ari (played by Park Kyu-young), who jumped into the world of money by becoming famous, and depicts the colorful and fierce faces of celebrities. The story of SNS, which is very close to our daily life, and the influencers who reign there as emerging aristocrats are excitingly unraveled.

Directed by Kim Chul-kyu, who directed the dramas 'Flower of Evil', 'Confession', 'Chicago Typewriter', 'On the Way to the Airport', 'Daemul', and 'Hwang Jin-yi'. Through 'Celebrity', director Kim Cheol-kyu showed various ways of expression that he had not tried in other dramas or movies.

Regarding the process of casting actors who appeared in 'Celebrity', director Kim Chul-kyu said, "Since the drama's personality is like that, I searched for actors with an urban image. I tried to cast actors whenever possible," he said.

He continued, "If possible, I tried to make a fresh face. If possible, I excluded people who are well known and familiar. Overall, I thought a lot that it would be nice if the characters gave a new and fresh feeling. Representatively, there are many people I haven't seen in the media except for Lee Chung-ah. I tried to discover and use new actors.”

The notable performers in 'Celebrity' are actress Jeon Hyo-seong from the girl group Secret and actor Kang Min-hyeok, a member of the band CN Blue. Director Kim Chul-gyu said, "Actress Jeon Hyo-seong was called a lot. He was called to our office and got scolded, so we practiced a lot every day. Actor Kang Min-hyeok was the same. I'm not an actor who is good at acting yet. I've been called a lot."

Also, "They knew well what they lacked and tried to fix it. They kept coming back to read, fix, try again, and went through a lot of this process. Actor Kang Min-hyuk did the same, actor Jeon Hyo-seong, and the best actors in the role of Angela did the reading. I went through a process of finding my own character by doing a lot.”

Director Kim Chul-gyu said, "If you do a lot of (practice), there are definitely things that you get better at, and there are things that you get used to. Actor Kang Min-hyuk also knew that he was lacking a lot and practiced a lot. He visited me a lot. He came to the office and did a lot of script reading."
