DAY6's Wonpil Dazzles with Unfiltered Solo Concert: A Blend of Dance and Piano Mastery
On the 3rd, Wonpil held his solo concert 'WONPIL SOLO CONCERT 'Unfiltered'' at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Songpa-gu, Seoul. This marked the final show of a three-day event that began on the 1st. It was his first solo concert in approximately four years and two months since his debut solo performance 'Pilmography' in March 2022, and was planned under the same name as his solo mini-album.
Wonpil opened the concert with tracks from his solo mini-album, including 'Toxic Love' and 'Grown Up'. After the opening, he expressed, "Finally, I'm back with my second solo concert. Today is the last day of the show. It's sad to say goodbye to 'Unfiltered', but it will be an unforgettable album."
As promised, Wonpil prepared a variety of performances, transforming into a dance artist. He performed tracks like 'Wedding Song', 'Love, Is This Right', 'Not a Million Roses', and 'Up All Night' with dancers, singing and dancing on stage. The audience erupted in cheers at the rare sight of a band member performing a dance stage.
Wonpil showcased his dance skills, reminiscent of his days as a dance idol trainee. Holding a white rose, he gestured as if handing it to fans and even held it in his mouth with a captivating expression. After the dance performance, he joked, "How was my dance? It's nothing much." He added, "I was worried it might be too much while preparing the dance. When else would I do this? The practice from my trainee days really helped."
The piano performances were also a highlight. Wonpil performed 'Piano', 'Like Flowing Wind', and 'You Were Beautiful' while playing the piano on a lift. His graceful piano playing and singing filled the venue, especially during 'You Were Beautiful', when fans sang along.
DAY6 members attended the concert to support Wonpil. Sungjin and Dowoon enjoyed the show, waving light sticks. During the DAY6 Even of Day song 'Love, Is This Right', which features Dowoon's voice, Wonpil shouted, "Dowoon, sing!" Dowoon stood up, holding the light stick tightly, and sang, which was broadcast on the screen.
He continued, "The concert four years ago was a painful memory, so this time, I just wanted to show a happy and enjoyable performance. I'm glad you liked it, and it feels like the sweat I shed in the dance practice room is being rewarded. I wanted to do better for my second solo concert. While preparing the album, I wanted to show many new sides, and I was happy during the preparation. There were times when I couldn't write songs well, but I think it's a fate as a creator, and I worked on it."
In March, Wonpil released his solo mini-album 'Unfiltered'. He participated in writing and composing all the tracks, showcasing his singer-songwriter talent. All seven tracks entered the Melon Top 100 chart on the day of release. All three performances sold out immediately after ticket sales opened. DAY6 will continue their solo concerts in Macau on the 9th, Busan on the 16th-17th, and Kobe on June 20th-21st.
