HYBE Artists Dominate Mnet's 'M Countdown' Lineup: A Strategic Move or Coincidence?
Each group's activities align differently. LE SSERAFIM is gearing up for their second full album release on May 22, kicking off promotions with the lead single 'CELEBRATION.' CORTIS pre-released their title track 'REDRED' on April 20, ahead of their official release on May 4. &TEAM, TOURS, and I-LIT are also in the midst of their comeback and promotional schedules. KATSEYE is performing in line with their Korean activities. This overlap in schedules has led to multiple HYBE artists appearing on the same broadcast.
It's uncommon for a single agency's artists to dominate a music show lineup. Traditionally, agencies stagger comebacks to avoid internal competition. However, simultaneous activities from the same agency are becoming more frequent.
This trend is attributed to HYBE's multi-label structure, where various labels operate independently. This allows teams to promote simultaneously without schedule conflicts, resulting in increased exposure to the public.
Industry experts view this as a shift in operational strategy, aiming to maximize exposure and rapidly expand market presence by activating multiple artist IPs simultaneously. This approach aligns with what is being referred to as 'HYBE 2.0,' where multiple teams move together to enhance brand influence.
Thus, there's a need to boost momentum in the second quarter. BTS's world tour kicked off in April, and major artists' new releases are concentrated in the same period. CORTIS has surpassed 2 million pre-orders for their May release, and KATSEYE boasts over 30 million monthly listeners on Spotify. This momentum is expected to highlight second-quarter performance.
