I.O.I to Reunite for 10th Anniversary Comeback in May
On the 23rd, Swing Entertainment announced, "I.O.I (comprising Lim Na-young, Chungha, Kim Se-jeong, Jung Chae-yeon, Kim So-hye, Yoo Yeon-jung, Choi Yoo-jung, Kim Do-yeon, and Jeon So-mi) will be making their comeback this May," adding that they are currently preparing a new album. Swing Entertainment will be managing I.O.I's activities for this special 10th-anniversary project.
This reunion marks the group's first activity together in approximately nine years since 2017, making it a significant event for fans. The members have consistently expressed their desire to reunite in various interviews and public appearances, and after extensive discussions, they have finally come together again. However, Kang Mi-na and Zhou Jieqiong will not be participating in this comeback due to prior commitments, and I.O.I will return as a nine-member group.
I.O.I was originally formed in 2016 through the Mnet show 'Produce 101', where they debuted in May of the same year. They quickly rose to fame with hit songs like 'Dream Girls', 'Whatta Man', 'Very Very Very', and 'Downpour', achieving first place on music shows and topping major music charts, establishing themselves as a leading girl group in the K-pop industry.
Their success was further cemented by winning rookie awards at major ceremonies such as the 'Mnet Asian Music Awards', 'Golden Disc Awards', and 'Seoul Music Awards'. Beyond music, they also made a mark in various entertainment programs, solidifying their status as a 'national girl group'. I.O.I concluded their official activities with a concert in January 2017.
In addition to releasing a new album, I.O.I plans to meet their global fans through a concert in Seoul, followed by an Asia tour.
